I don't usually see locked threads, and when I do it's usually pretty clear why they got locked.

However I'm very puzzled why this thread got locked, so hopefully one of the moderators can help me understand:

It started with a simple question, which was answered, and then there was a wider discussion about picking colors and different ways they get represented.

I guess I could see how some would see the extended discussion as off topic, but it absolutely fit into the starting question and I thought they were genuinely interesting replies.

Based on all of this I can't fathom why the thread was locked, so could someone enlighten me?

This could also be a failed PSU.

Agreed, these need to be normalized (frags-per-minute or damage-per-minute).

Try disabling your hibernation file.

From an admin command prompt:
powercfg -h off

(powercfg -h on to turn it back on)

Also you could reduce the size of your page file.

EDIT: Also you can try using the disk cleanup utility. Properties of C » Disk Cleanup » Clean up System Files » Check windows updates.
