#135 TF2 update for late 7/3/15 (7/4/15 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion

Just a thought but I know that a group of high level West Coast NA players recently had contact with Valve. Any talk of them discussing this with the TF2 team?

#26 DeutschLAN drops TF2Center sponsorship in TF2 General Discussion
indecencyan HL LAN and tf2center combined sounded like buttaids anyway plain and simple, you guys are writing too many words for this

A website which aims to give players a place to go to learn the rules and strategies of all forms of comp TF2 shouldn't sponsor a comp TF2 LAN event because?

VoidWhisperer I think deutschlan has an indiegogo going.

Way ahead of you :)

Wish I could've given more but I'm an unemployed student so I'm broke :(

#131 TF2 update for late 7/3/15 (7/4/15 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion

Oh actually I forgot to mention that I actually spent some time practicing "juggling" 2 mediguns from viaduct spawn to mid and it's really not easy. The weapons fly out at a seemingly random trajectory so it's not easy to catch the midair and it's not like CS:GO/CS:S where you could just spam the weapon drop button. Also I noticed the weapon switch button isn't exactly the most responsive thing in the world and it makes it really hard to juggle mediguns up hills.

Also I tested trying to shoot the medigun with a rocket or a scattergun and that didn't work but this was all pre-update so it might work now, not sure.

Even so, RIP milking ubers if one uber is popped already and ambitious last pushes where you can just turtle and stockpile ubers.

I'm gonna ask Alain if he wants to do some testing with me and maybe we'll post another update video at some point so we can confirm all of this once and for all.

#129 TF2 update for late 7/3/15 (7/4/15 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion

This update is so cool for so many reasons but as a novice medic main the ubercharge change really kills it for me. Dropping uber before was pretty bad but now you can easily lose a game over it and yeah sometimes uber drops are just plain unlucky and for them to have such a big effect on the outcome of a round just feels wrong. I feel there's enough of a punishment for a drop as it is.

Also from the point of view of someone who enjoys TF2 as a spectator e-sport. One of my favorite things about watching TF2 games was watching some of the insane uber milks that medics like Mirelin used to do. The "will he drop? ... WOW HE'S ON <30 HP AND HE HELD IT" clutch moments were awesome to see (and I'd imagine to cast too) and these moments were part of the inspiration for me to try play medic in comp seriously in the first place.

Finally I could imagine this making the game quite stalemate prone too. Yeah sure you get rewarded for playing aggressively but at the same time even if the other team has one scout/solly down if the pressure is on (LAN knockout stage, ETF2L playoffs, ESEA playoffs) who would want to risk an early pop or drop? Dunno maybe I'm wrong I've never been in that position before but I know that teams tend to play safe in high pressure situations.

#17 DeutschLAN drops TF2Center sponsorship in TF2 General Discussion

I used to work at TF2C as a mod and was also put in charge of the feedback section of the forums. I cannot stress enough how much I disagree with Masternoob on this. I'm now boycotting the site.

The point of sponsoring an event like this is to support the community not to exert your influence over people/organisations. I cannot imagine any scenario where RTC's attendance would've been negative for the LAN. This is purely Masternoob acting on a personal vendetta and it wouldn't be the first time.

Now they've lost yet another member of staff who has done a fantastic job on the site as far as I can tell. It makes me sad to see a site with such great potential be slowly destroyed by certain individual's actions after so many people put so much work into it.

Good luck and kudos to the people behind DeutschLan and TF2Pickup. Unfortunately I cannot afford to go but if you guys need any help with the running/organisation I’ll be glad to help out.

Shame on the admins of TF2Center who are responsible for this decision.

AndKennethKkaltuu don't even bother posting an internal discussion. They deleted my post when I quit, and they've been deleting tonberrys few recent posts trying to call them out as well.

The bullying does not only extend to the larger tf2 community, it's internal as well.

Wow. Things have gotten worse then, at least they kept my post around for a bit...

#586 The Gun Mettle Update in TF2 General Discussion
joejoe347smobojoejoe347I'm thinking of weird situations when the medic is the last one alive in a fight and is definitely going to eventually die, but can't kill bind because they don't want to drop whatever uber % they have, and the enemy team wants to keep them alive for as long as possible so they get shitty respawns, so they just kinda stare at each other until the other team kills the medic.just put your medigun away lmao
I read something earlier that said no matter what you have out on medic it always drops your medigun, is that incorrect?

Yes. Throughout our testing this evening we only ever saw a player drop whichever weapon was equipped.

#582 The Gun Mettle Update in TF2 General Discussion

Hey, I'm one of the guys (R.E.M.) in that video on the medic uber. Thought I would answer some questions.

ZestyAlainVandannaJust re-posting this, full confirmation that Medics Uber % is not retained when killing them, only when they killbind.

myself, R.E.M. and Euthanasia tested this in a vid below, sorry for euro level production quality

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjWntweaiuU
What happens if you have more than 0% uber as medic - do you keep your uber or reset to 0%?

Not sure what you mean. If you mean something like, I have 50% uber and switch weapons with a medic on 0% and then switch back then the medigun I had will still be 50%. Weapons intentionally dropped by the user retain uber.

What if someone else kills the medic.

We tested this off camera with a scout, it makes no difference.

What if you pick up the gun after the med spawns and starts healing?

Not 100% sure about this one but from what I've seen the medigun's uber is tied to the object when it's dropped NOT the player. So once the weapon has been dropped for whatever reason then the uber is static and is no longer tied to the medic that dropped it.

how about cratered without an enemy getting credit?
how about cratered with credit? (soldier juggles and then he craters, for example)

Cratering with or without enemy credit both result in 0% uber on the dropped medigun.

If you have any more questions I will do my best to answer them :)

Also fun fact, a friend of mine has kindly let me test how easy it is to build with the escape plan, you get around around 60% uber from healing from 50 to 210 hp with the escape plan out and WITHOUT hurting yourself.

Edit: Bugger Alain beat me to it :(
