#24 Leagues order Promod à la carte in News
Nathaneg: dont just shoot someone straight in the face for 100, doing like 80 to yourself, shoot the rocket slightly behind them and do 70 to them and 0 to yourself

and then when they live with 20 hp and meatshot your ragdoll 30 yards away, curse this game and everyone who worked on it

#12 ETF2L Season 36 announced in News
mustardoverlordspeaking as someone in favor of reverting the med speed buff, I think it's still prolly right to give that one time to be tested and hopefully do it for next season (same goes for rgl)

the others are no brainers ofc

The game hasnt changed THAT much since before the speed buff. Its a known quantity for most players here and should be reverted. Or at least voted on or smth

Pretty misleading, if not straight up false? The people behind NACL had announced their intentions to make a league happen weeks earlier, pretty soon after it came out that ESEA was dying, but understandably took some time to organize everything enough to make an official announcement.

Most people were not signed up yet. People like to wait to sign up until the very last second even with established leagues, but RGL had made a big announcement how it had secured some invite teams playing (and I seem to recall a post about one of those teams not being aware it had signed up?). And more than that, RGL had intentionally scheduled its first season to start almost immediately after the end of the ESEA season, in some kind of "pick us now or forever hold your peace" kind of play. And I also seem to recall some last second delays anyway once it became clear people weren't signing up on time? But by that point, the decision had already been made.

The timing was all totally arbitrary. Pretty sure that in the end we picked RGL because they offered more prize money. Because apparently we all suffer from some awkward TF2 form of "temporarily embarrassed millionaire" syndrome.

AelkyrAnd that just because this form of trashtalk is socially accepted right now does not mean that it should be, and that we'd all gain more, as a group from trying to be a bit nicer.

this is fair, but this should be something we all strive for as opposed to people being mandated to do so

banning people for stupid shit like this is extra problematic because it delegitimizes when people are banned for actual hate speech and harassment (on an rgl server or not). "kys" is pretty innocuous compared to the shit i hear tossed around whenever i play the game. i mean at this point its basically just synonymous with "fuck off." this is uncomfortably close to banning people for any kind of shit talk at all

Spamfest[*] While it is true that at high levels of play it won't matter as much because everyone will have great uber tracking/damage calls, and that it is not a true substitute for uber tracking, it still only gets rid of situations where that skill expression exists while adding no new interesting decisions/strategies to the game.

I mean, from what I can see, even at the highest levels it fucks around with uber tracking. The solemn vow is a "must-run" tier weapon, in the same vein as the crossbow and escape plan. The thing about uber tracking is that it assumes your opponent is building properly. With the solemn vow, you no longer have to worry about that variable. You now should always know if you have ad, even, or disad. Sure, the meds need to have line of sight on each other, but that happens organically often enough that it will be a factor. I see us having some fucking weirdo situations where we have teams trying to make room for their med to peek, trying to make sure they still have ad before pushing.

I also think it's unfortunate that teams will also no longer make the mistake of pushing when they think they have ad, but don't, since the other team built more efficiently. In my brain, changing the game so that teams no longer make mistakes like that is going to contribute to more stalemates.

twiikuu plugin is not being considered

Why the fuck not? Isn't it just bug fixes? Stuff like rockets through teammates, fine, but fixing ramp bugs and sticky det delay should be a huge priority

fall damage too, unless we'd like to reintroduce crits and random spread for "testing purposes"

#126 TF2 and CS:GO's source code got leaked in TF2 General Discussion

Alyx is not HL3. Smh.

My understanding is that the code was leaked out of valve years ago, but the people it was leaked to had been able to keep it to themselves until now.

im legit confused, how on earth could chatlogs from 3-4 years ago possibly incriminate anyone for something that JUST happened? like even if it verifies that tyler had access to the code, how tf you just gonna assume that literally no one else has gotten access in the intervening years
