What I've discovered (and hopefully I'm correct with this so far) is that while I don't have the best fighting techniques in the whole world, the reason I wasn't doing so well was a combination of not wanting to take heals coupled with a lack of confidence and over-commitment when I didn't have a buff.

DM isn't something that is 'teachable'. I feel an idiot for thinking it was.

While I DO MGE a lot, I didn't properly 'practice' my weaknesses. Doing pugs and practicing what I'm bad at will make me into a better player. Thank you guys for the helpful comments and adding me to talk.

Thank you for the advice, you guys. I'm a bit terrified of PUGs, but I'll try to give them an honest shot if permitted.

Thanks again for all of the positive responses.

Yeah, I know that sounds weird. I'm being serious.

I've been playing TF2 for a good amount of time and have an okay amount of experience. However, probably 99% of that gametime has been playing Medic. Don't get me wrong, Medic's a great class, but having not played a damage-dealing class is negatively affecting my gameplay. I recently got picked up as a Scout in sixes, and despite knowing what I should be doing and getting into that sweet position to do work.. My lack of DM experience kicks in and I flub it up.

I do MGE and SoapDM a lot for practice, but don't feel like I'm improving. I worry that I may be practicing what I'm already good, or decent at, rather than what I need to improve on.

What I would like is for someone with a decent amount of competitive experience in higher level play to add me, and then proceed to beat the snot out of me while telling me what I could improve on. If it turns out that my DM isn't the only issue, I'd be more than happy to listen about positioning, movement, communication, strategy, etc. I'd love to learn the relationship between DM and higher level sixes play (with a focus on Scout, if at all possible).

I am not interested in learning any of the Highlander classes.

Please add me here.

Thank you!

hitherethis thread basically is tainting your reputation, making you a tiresome sore loser

There's nothing I can honestly do about that.

hitherei thought the point of ugc was to have fun no matter the difficulties, not to create a war between friends

Yeah, and I agree with that.

You are playing a game of escalation with me that you will never win.

No no, don't you see? No matter what I say I'll get ~-10 frags.

I could literally type the nicest, most supportive of things and I'll get downvoted.

It's like a superpower.

So since people are gonna press the little down arrow whenever they see my name, I'm gonna see how I do with this one:

I honestly don't think me, nor my team or anyone involved, is trying to say that we wanted to play with the unfair advantage. We just wanted to follow the rules and get the games over with. If there were no ping issues and they had won fair and square, then that's just how it would be. We won the 1st season, they won the 2nd season. It's been fun so far. Let's keep that battle going.

What this post here is about is the disregard of rules. The UGC admins should state something like, "in order to keep Finals/Playoff matches fair, they will be played at a time, at a place, where both teams can play to their best abilities within reason."(The 'within reason' is to keep teams from getting four Invite ringers because they want to make the game 'fair' in their eyes or whatever) It should be stated that any of the rules, such as the 'ping average' rule or the '3rd map on home team server' rule will be subject to change based upon this.

Red_Kai you sound sorta like a bitch just because your sandbag team that you bragged about having ex-invite players lost in the finals. Grow up a little. It's UGC 4's

How is my team a sandbag team that I bragged about in any way?

Also I'm saying that the UGC admins ignore rules. Seriously?

It's implied. Also it's been clarified by my post #22. We waited 20+ minutes (which would've been an automatic forfeit win) while they contacted admins. I was dragged into their conversation where we were forced to one of UGC's servers.

Edit: So with their team ping average of 70-something, we were forced to move servers. I understand the whole 'fairness' thing, but if rules are going to be ignored, then they shouldn't have rules. If in a finals match, I had 200 ping, I would've been told to deal with it or sub out because it's just me with high ping.

silkthreadKaiThePhauxMurow, we're not fighting about "boo hoo we lost" we're saying "the UGC admins have team-favoritism and ignore rules they write themselves"it just sounds like you're salty because you're a worse team and lost even with fair pings on both sides

I don't think you understand what I'm saying here.

Jarrett000If this was a problem why didn't you get a ugc admin right then and there? What would complaining to tf.tv even accomplish? Other than trying to make UGC or Satan's team look like dicks, which nobody really cares about I don't think.

And I don't think you've read the original post.

MurowYou basically agreed to playing on a server where everyone had fair ping, did not like the result, and now you're disputing it.

We were forced to. There was no 'agreement'.
