#256 Fantasy TF2: Let’s do this! in Projects
kaidusIs this a bug or is my understanding of the system really wrong? Just at a glance kouna achieved only 3 points from his snakewater game, but looking at the stats my understanding suggests the following: +1 for kd, + 2 for caps, +11 for DPM, +2 for top damage, -3 for medic deaths. This works out at 13 points to my understanding. Is there some other subtraction that I am missing or what is going on here?

Excellent bug finding, I've been running the wrong version of the logs.tf parser. I'll get an update tested then re-parse the relevant games. ESEA shouldn't be affected.

If I ever get a premium level feature implemented you have earned a freebie.

Edit: updated, apologies to anyone who lost out, but the truth is you were never really winning.

I've had to make some modifications to keep things working while ESEA has their ddos protection in place, but I've now belatedly added the cafe monster vs hawaii beach vacation game and Champagne and Cocaine vs Ascent. I'm not aware of any other games that have been successfully played during this period so that should cover it for now.

#176 ESEA Client Update - Always On??? in TF2 General Discussion
TheFragileGentlemanJonTheFragileIf something seems to be unquestionably better in just about every way, then I'm sure everyone will entertain the idea.Indulge me, what does that look like?
I typed out a bunch of stuff, but it was really just me shitting on CEVO and saying "well, ESEA does this fine for the most part, but it could improve."

If I had to directly compare it to ESEA? Hm, I'll name a few things really quick.

Take what ESEA has, and then have better servers, either no client or a client that actually works / catches cheaters / doesn't run as a process in the background, more TF2 content on the website itself or at least direct itself to TFTV for the content, having the maps played in the season actually consistent (ie: I think my team has to play Metalworks once this season and Process four times? Why?), more diverse stats like sizzlingstats, and a few other reasons...

It doesn't really sound like there's a huge amount of room to improve on ESEA, most of these things seem indicative of a lack of love over the years (like the stats slowly becoming a little antiquated), the stance on no client would be the controversial part. Would people pay to play knowing Vac or a volunter AC team were the only defence?

Also servers, are we talking about TF2 being held back on old hardware or is it locations, routing, or what? Or is it just the usual server situation - nobody is ever completely happy? The website could be modernised massively but that's really secondary to things just working.

vibhavpI wonder if this violates any consumer protection laws in the US or EU.

I don't think rude answers on a forum violate anything, only the internal reality of the organisation matters.

The layout of the create and edit team pages were misbehaving on some common mobile resolutions, they should now be improved.

Also it's a busy day of ESEA games. Get those transfers in while you still can...

Twiggyah fair enough indeed...

depending on the accuracy required in prices, we could probably get a small team to help with it next season. I mean I at least would be glad to give a hand.

I've been thinking of crowd sourcing the prices, asking for price estimations and taking the average, but the amount of time between knowing the players and releasing the season is usually about 30 minutes so the system that dealt with those situations would be a bit more complicated than it might initially appear.

I've added some friends features, teams that are run by people in your friends list should now have a little friends icon next to their names, and from the homepage there is now a link to view a list of only the teams that belong to people on your friends list. Team detail pages should now also show the owner of the team.

mustardoverlordI think everyone faced the same dilemma as me and wondered if it was worth it to get total shitters as soldiers in order to make room for stark

Only to end up with Stark on roamer in a week anyway...

Twiggyif it's automated, have you considered doing a similar thing for ETF2L tiers? :D

Unfortunately it's quite intensive work coming up with the player values, and tracking down logs of etf2l matches tends to be a manual process as well.

kaidusSeems a lot harder to make a strong team compared to esea. Probably a good thing though.

I think this is due to there being a bigger perceived skill divide in ETF2L this season between the top teams and the rest leading to an average price that's further away from the top players.

This is partly because Froyo had a lot of defaults last season so simulations didn't have them scoring that many more points than other teams. Whether this is a Froyo effect that will be repeated this season or a one off only time will tell.

Oops, forgot to say thanks to Sideshow for helping me out with the teams :)

The ETF2L Season 21 fantasy league is now open. There are a couple of points to clarify. In a small rule change you can select no more than 3 players from any single TF2 team to be on your fantasy team.

Also where a player's participation is questionable or a team still has a roster spot open I will probably add that player later on. If you're expecting a particular player to be added to a roster soon and you really want them on your team then you might want to wait.

Prices for some players are based on what they've been playing in pre-season, if teams radically change their roles during the season the player prices won't change.
