#30 b4nny's valve visit 5/9/16 in TF2 General Discussion
FUNKepanda106Why does Valve only tell b4nny about upcoming updates and stuff? Why not the whole community?
I would boil it down to b4nny and a select other few large community members can be trusted to give honest feedback to valve and valve can still change things without peeving off large chunks of the community

Valve hates making promises, and telling the community to "expect a big update" straight from the horses mouth is just bound to cause some level of disappointment when it isn't "EVERYTHING" people wanted. If b4nny says it though, then suddenly whatever we get is a pleasant surprise.

it's not a select few members of the community though

it's literally only b4nny

almost the entire production staff for tf.tv was in the dark until the email they just received, and they said it was an extremely late response anyways lol

ShooshFirstly, for people saying balancing isn't need, you're blind. There are so many overpowered things in this game.

while i agree there can be balancing changes made, a lot of those problems you list seem to just be inexperience vs playing those characters

i had a hard time against double mei strats, but i didn't feel like she was really overpowered tbh, she's really irritating but it's not like she's invincible and you can still zone her away by just shooting at her from range

imo widowmaker just needs to be made so that her ult only affects her over giving the entire team wallhacks, i think that would be a totally fair change to something that is already ridiculous. also i've used her traps to kill tracers/genji and things chasing me so many times that it's ridiculous, saying her poison traps are useless is just wrong imo

i don't mind bastion because he's countered by a handful of things that can take him at range or pull him out of his sentry mode. the only real problem i've had is playing against him when the entire team is damage buffing him + placing shields to protect him, although that just leads to the ability to attempt to get around their team and flank a greater threat

i feel like genji reflect is just inexperience, i always try to wait for him to wantonly pop it and just bodyshot/headshot him for the kill since he can't do anything but blade dash away or try to kill you, if he runs he's dead. i feel like it's really easy to abuse currently just because so many people are trying the game out for the first time, i was tilting pretty hard on day 1 when getting killed by my own reflected headshots, but after i learned to just wait, he hasn't been anywhere near as irritating to play against

mcree is really strong, but i wouldn't say his flash is the only reason he's so strong, he just outputs so much damage at any range in both solo and group fights lol, i wouldn't be able to think of a nerf that wouldn't make him completely useless though i think he shouldn't keep 50% of his meter for failing to trigger his ult

i haven't had any qualms about melee range guns having autoaim in regards to winston/symmetra

imo i think meter should be drained when dying, but switching heroes should have no penalty in regards to meter

i'm definitely going to post the same feedback in the beta forums, but i think it's stupid you can wipe a team and their mercy comes out of nowhere with full meter and just revives everyone after you've been killing her over and over

edit: i made a large post about the ults and i think the entire post got deleted because i mentioned i'm a tf2 player, unless each post is moderated before posting lol

#63 Overwatch Open Beta Live in Other Games

I'm having a lot of fun with this game tbh, even while solo queuing, but I'm also the type to enjoy tf2 pubbing by myself as well so ?

I do feel like comparing tf2 to this game is pretty wrong, but I've been saying for months now that this game is more akin to monday night combat over any other game I've played so far. This game plays a lot differently from tf2 competitive-wise too, I was playing in-house PUGs with a bunch of tf2 players yesterday and it was kind of like playing musical chairs with classes, trying to outplay the other teams composition more than anything. It's incredibly stressful to play, but I think it's just because I haven't taken a new game seriously in a long time because I'm still debating picking OW up as a competitive game to play around in.

My biggest fear about OW is what Blizzard is going to do in regards to cheaters. Blizzard is well-known for having extremely lax reactions to cheaters in their games, more in regard to botters. Diablo 3 came out on May 15, 2012, and botters popped up shortly after that. It took them until a month or two ago to start punishing botters that were well-known in that game (basically 4 years later). There are already people that are suspected of cheating in OW comp scene, but there really is no way to even report players in-game as there's no report function for cheating, just toxic players.

Besides that, I think the current "meta" is pretty rough since it's more stressful than fun, at least in PUGs. I think it's neat that people can hard counter certain classes, but being forced into certain roles (double supports/tanks...) is not the most fun to play both as or against. Other than that, I've been averaging about 10 hours a day since the beta opened on the game, and I don't regret buying it, but I'm still on the fence about actually competing in the game itself in its current incarnation.

#34 mge or soap_dm? in TF2 General Discussion

i would say it depends on who you're playing against

playing against mid IM to invite players would be better to learn from in MGE because they just punish you harder, although i'm not saying it's bad to also play them in DM too

in DM you can get caught by stupid things happening just because it's always in a state of chaos, but i would say you can get away with practicing with players well below your skill level and not be affected negatively in dm more than mge

although it's also arguable that you can learn things from people way worse than you in mge as well, as you can try to not get hit or not drop any rounds, although i feel like that's turning mge into something other than actual practice

#136 Updating cp_snakewater in Map Discussion

i personally don't enjoy the logs change on the second point as well, but i can see how it's more fitting for the maps theme

it feels so weird just because i'm used to those trains being there, but it feels weird you can get stuck on the logs since they are layered... like logs....

i noticed the map is way darker than the normal snakewater as well, but i liked it, although it does change the overall feel of the map, it feels more like dusk than a mid afternoon type of feeling

we played a pug on it yesterday while i was streaming if you wanted to see what i saw, we make some critiques/observations about the changes on it before the game even starts

#36 eL cLaSsIcO wins ESEA Season 21 Intermediate in News
lucrativeFoxadmin who keeps changing the titles is probably a gigantic manchild
Just like every person in this thread mindlessly whining about spoilers. Last time I checked this is a news website/forums, if you don't want spoilers, OR to discuss the game, go watch the game first and then come and check out the news, this game was also played on Sunday so if you really wanted to watch the game so bad with no spoilers you definetly had time to. Some people here would actually like to Discuss the game on this news website/forum. TF.TVshouldn't be forced to change how it posts it's news just cause the mongaloids want it to be like Reddit or HLTV.

Most of you retards probably purposely not watching the game anyways just so you have another thing to complain about tbh

This site was made to be a HUB for all things TF2-related, as far as I know. This was their first iteration of their site banner, which I still use to refer people to visit here and check it out:

http://i.imgur.com/KSa6AfL.png

If TF.TV is supposed to be a community hub, not everyone comes here only for news.

I personally watch games that I want to watch when they are live, but sometimes I have IRL things to do and I feel for the people that miss out on these games because of their timezones, because sometimes tuning into a game at 6 pm or 4 am (for ESEA lan finals) was a bit rough since I am affected by timezones just like a lot of the European/NZ/AUS/Asia communities. Yeah, it is simple to just only follow the twitch channel to watch VODs of matches, but it's super lame when the entire remedy to this situation is just slight wording changes in a topic title.

The HLTV.org thing was from an ADMIN'S POST, where they said they wanted this site to be more like hltv, which is why they have full spoilers in the topic titles, the difference is that HLTV only has full spoilers on their front page while we have these same topics on our main sidebar that's on every page of the site. A lot of people do use this site as their home page, and I feel like it's counter-productive to tell these people to just change that just because the admins are being toxic about game spoilers and maliciously changing vague wording into direct spoilers for some stupid reason.

Source:

DavidTheWinRegarding the spoilers in titles, we're trying to follow a similar approach to hltv in the news writing and they don't spoiler titles and you don't see people there complaining about spoilers.

admin who keeps changing the titles is probably a gigantic manchild

when the majority of the site are vocally against doing this, they change it anyways because they have the power to do so when it's not hard to satisfy the majority

it's honestly the same type of people who posts spoilers in twitch chats imo

there's no logical reasoning to have results of matches as spoiler topics in a place that's supposed to be a hub for tf2, making people avoid the site entirely to avoid matches they want to watch is stupid since the threads pop up in the sidebar as announcements

how is it any different to have people click on an article they want to read that keeps it ambiguous who won versus stating the results in the topic title lmao

it's disappointing to have people powertripping as admins here

edit:
btw hltv.org doesn't have results posted if you go directly to their forums, it's only on their front page, so they're doing an awful job trying to emulate that site anyways :v

#33 country with the best candy in Off Topic
AoshimaIs there a distinction between candy and dessert? Like. I'm pretty sure Turkey is one of the kings of the dessert world, but I dunno if I'd call that candy.

Is ice-cream candy, for example?

tbh if you tried hard enough anything can become candied

candy and desserts are the same thing because candy is basically considered anything that can be sweet, so basically anything that uses sugar or something similar Edit: apparently this depends on your region, because depending on your viewpoint you might not consider desserts candy, since candies are supposed to be things that can be eaten in-between meals

also those rice candies hidi posted are pretty great, but a lot of people don't realize you can eat the rice paper wrapper around the candy and always try to remove it lmao

#10 tf2 has been out longer than the time b/w tfc&tf2 in TF2 General Discussion
nykKonceptLegacyWishlist for tf3:
  • runs on source 2 engine
  • solely competitive build based on 6s
  • hats/weapons/etc are usable in tf2 and tf3
  • game is well optimized for lower end computers (which I guess can go with running on source 2)
Couldn't we just call that an "update"?

i think porting an entire game to a new engine would be worth updating the game number as a sequel depending on what they added as content/tweaked severely
