movie was really good tbh

i feel like it's a beginner to horror movies type of horror, the people i went with usually hate horror movies and enjoyed this one

(they went because they misunderstood when i said a comedian was the director)

for the most part, characters in anime generally don't look like people you would naturally find irl (for the most part) in the first place
a lot of shows have characters with naturally dark blue/white/crimson red/green hair or incredibly unnatural physical traits

like you could argue that the physical characteristics of characters in shows aren't inherently japanese, but you could also say they don't necessarily resemble anyone irl as well, there's so many shows that have blonde hair/blue eyes characters that aren't actually white

even in that interview you linked to had them saying that the characters just looked like anime characters until they got to the end of the interview where they were directly asking them about japan's perception on whitewashing from a western standpoint

you could also debate about the characters not looking japanese because of the entire harajuku fashion area lol
if you've ever actually walked around harajuku, you really wouldn't be surprised by any of the characters in anime looking the way they do

can't wait for everyone to try it out for 30 minutes, realize it's too difficult, and go straight into use map settings games for the remainder of their playtime

if you talk to people in japan, they don't see those characters as being white a majority of the time fyi, that's just western perception

western population is drawn totally different in a lot of series compared to major characters like samurai champloo, yakitate!! japan, eyeshield 21, steins;gate, etc..

there are europeans in death note most notably the protagonists from the second arc

i don't have really high hopes for this series, but probably will watch it anyways when it's released just for willem dafoe ryuk
