smzijelqing_jedimercedes has three e's in it and all of them are pronounced differently
no they are not

Not sure about other English speaking areas but in the NA mid-west the e's sound like such

1st e "Mer" remove the r sound that is heavily tied to it when spoken is close to an "uhh" sound
2nd e "ced" is an "ay" sound
3rd e is pretty much "e"

All I have to say is be glad you speak German. Though listening to how a few Germans say it still sounds like 2 distinct ways of saying the letter E. 1st and 3rd e is kind of an "ehh" sound while the 2nd is pretty close to "e" for me at least, and 1 guy that had the 2nd "e" relatively close the the "ay" sound I normally hear.

#28 is thanksgiving the worse prelude to christmas in Off Topic
owlturkey is probably the worst meat on earth

a good tenderloin or even duck is the best thanksgiving meat

1. Learn to cook Turkey so it isn't dry.

Deer meat is overall pretty fucking bad, it's so easy to fuck up getting good tasting venison :/
Get an old deer and you get really tough stringy meat.
Deer was able to run off after being shot and later bleed out? you're in for the worst tasting meat of your life.
Didn't clean the deer immediately? same as above...
Deer wasn't able to feed off of nearby farmland? Extra tough.
Get a deer at the end of season? Extra tough.
Not to mention venison need significantly less time marinating than pork/beef so people usually over do it causing the flavor to be way off.

Other than jerky deer meat usually doesn't turn out that well unless basically everything went right. Deer died immediately, relatively young, feed on farm crops all season long, early hunting season while food is still easily accessible for deer and they haven't been fighting for mates, was properly gutted/bled immediately preferably on a relatively cold day without the use of power tools. Top it off with a butcher that understands that what fat is on the deer needs to be trimmed and the cook needs to prepare the food for a shorter period of time and you have one hell of a chain for something to go wrong.

2. Not sure if you're referring to Pork or Beef tenderloin either way Bison tenderloin is better. Duck though is a A+ Quail is also an excellent choice.

Personally unless you plan on playing a instrument for recording or recording you talking to multiple other people around a table DO NOT GET A CONDENSER MIC. Every mouse click and every keypress WILL be caught by a condenser mic.

Dynamic Mics are best for recording voice of someone speaking (or singing) directly into it, especially in rooms without really good sound isolation.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JX8O0Y/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004QJOZS4/

these 2 mics get recommended pretty frequently I personally own the AT2005, get a pop filter and most of the background noises go away and even without the pop filter it still picks up WAY less background noise than a condenser mic.

That being said though if a dynamic mic is placed next to a mechanical keyboard even with sound dampening rubber O-rings it'll still pickup most keypresses even if facing away, it'll be significantly less noticeable though than a condenser.

#14 ESEA Season 29 prize pool split announced in News
ScratchhemoScratchhwait only 250 for 6 people or 250 for each player?250 all together. so 1st in Open is like $41 for each.i wish esea could scrounge up some of their millions and millions of dollars and actually make tf2 have way bigger prizepools, imagine if CS:GO Opens prize was 41$ each. god dude please give us an actual prize next season

Imagine if TF2 actually needed multiple conferences for Open because their's like 500 teams in it and instead of having 3 skill divisons their was 6 with open having 3 conferences and IM having 2. Maybe then TF2 open could have a >$41 prize pool per player. For perspective the entirety of ESEA TF2 (70 teams including the 4 or 5 teams that played 0 matches) is smaller than ESEA-CSGO Main (125 teams played at least 1 match)

Shiftaon that note are there any good mice with forward sensors? Or is my best bet getting a small mouse and clawing it?

Not sure how many decent ones there are.

I do know that Ninox is releasing a mouse with an adjustable sensor position and uses the PMW3360

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRCybR_UZco
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ninox-astrum-lightweight-modular-gaming-mouse#/

Supposedly sub 80g no matter the configuration.
Also claims pure ptfe mouse skates but all the pics I've seen shows black skates or none on it. 100% pure PTFE is white so it makes me uncertain of their choice of words.

lootoriginal mx518 has a very tactile scroll compared to every other mouse I've owned, so probably not just from messing with yours

to confirm I double checked compared to my g400 scroll assembly and it behaves the same as my g400s.

ShiftaI was actually a big fan of the sensor position in the g500. I don't know where this idea that perfectly in the middle is the only good place for a sensor. Do you have a pic of the underside of the new mx518?

Mostly because almost every other mouse is really close to the middle putting it far forward or the side makes it unintuitive for users who've used basically any other mouse.

https://i.imgur.com/EVU2TsR.png

just glancing at it compared to a G400s the sensor position is about 0.5 to 1mm closer to the butt of the mouse on the new MX518

stock skates are terrible, was going to replace them with hyperglides anyway but was expecting skates with the rounded edges already like the G403 had, these are pressed flat skates :(

Cable is slightly more flexible than original cables for this design (and no it's not just a age difference in the outer coating of the cable). Diameter is approximately the same. Seems to be mounted better to the front of the mouse.

Clicks feel a bit stiffer than my g400s but that is probably from significant use on my g400s.
DPI buttons are weird the DPI up button feels like it actuates a mechanical switch, but the DPI down and default buttons feel like membrane like the G400s and older mice.

Scroll is similar but different not sure if this is a difference I created when I messed with the internals of my g400s including the scroll though. Scroll on my g400s has a more obvious tactile feel to it while the new mx518 while still noteable isn't as obvious.

Plastic is a bit more textured than the G400/400s except the cover shell which is very glossy like the original mx518.

#85 Steam chat redesign beta in Off Topic
YeeHawOmbrackthere was a steam update last night, which reverted my "old chat" to the new thing again. I cant seem to bring it back to how it was. I was using the method described by screwball at the end of page 2, anyone has a solution ?ive had the same issue, although strangely my fps in black ops 4 (which i have enabled steam overlay in) has increased

The new chat vs the old chat (when enabled) has better performance most people just prefer the old one more due to less visual clutter. Technically the old chat with all the web stuff disabled performed better but the store was unusable unless you did it via web browser, haven't found a way to disable all the extra stuff for steam other than chat / game library stuff yet. (then again I haven't looked to hard)

#19 Who does not use Iron Bomber in TF2 General Discussion
ZestyBefore people get into theorycrafting about grenades having a 'more inconsistent projectile path because of tumble'. Here's a quote from the sigsegv video that everyone got that information from:

"Somewhat surprisingly, there is little difference between stock and the Iron Bomber despite the latter having roughly spherical projectiles instead of pill-shaped ones".

The rollers are the reason people use it.

It's definitely a little bit of everything, but I have a feeling you're missunderstanding sigsegv. The Iron Bomber and Grenade Launcher on average go the same distance before exploding (assuming they never touch the ground) and go the same speed, BUT Iron Bomber variates a LOT less and you can see it in that video. The maximum distance the ironbomber goes is less the minimum distance is higher, the amount the ironbomber deviates from center either left or right is also lower now it's not by a whole lot but it still matters.

Combine the lower variation in the iron bomber with less roll giving demomen better ability to deny a specific area that isn't directly next to a wall and have a shorter fuse making timing WAY easier and it becomes a distinctly better choice. It's just icing on the cake that the iron bomber projectile overall is just way darker than the stock projectile so it's harder to see if you're looking directly at a demo or dark back grounds. I'm also pretty sure that the Iron Bomber fire animation is way less noticeable than the stock grenade launcher.

#28 FROYO no stream policy in TF2 General Discussion

in terms of focus it's not that hard to turn your stream on with a ~30s delay and turn off your chat monitor. I guess it could just be a mental thing cause you'll still know people are watching. That being said I think it would be more reasonable that a high invite team playing a match vs another high invite team would refuse to stream if they planned on using a new strategy and they don't want everyone know exactly how they planned it out, though you could just watch an STV to understand most of it.

#4 How do I get rid of these ghost trails things in TF2 General Discussion

afaik the only way is to wait until the holiday event is over. Which is really lame cause you can't even disable server side (to my knowledge) but you can enable it whenever server side...
