We're trying to. Information on the teams attending is currently quite spotty, and they way the tournament is set up is really bad for determining which teams to include. Preferably there will be around eight teams worth following, but currently there's only around five, and then we have to predict who will do well from the remaining teams, and I'm not that knowledgeable about the American scene.

GentlemanJon has done all of the necessary setup and we've brought in an American admin to upload results as they happen, so we just need me to set prices for all the players and enter them into the system

A few things:

Sniping from the forward spawns is currently too powerful IMO. It's especially bad on the 2nd point where the sniper can basically see everything from inside of the spawn.

This lantern is super obnoxious since it restricts your movement:

This flank is pretty boring. Adding some high ground advantages and breaking up vision would go a long way towards making it an area that could see action that isn't just through-traffic. Cave is looking pretty good IMO.

These shelves with boxes should be closed off since you can't use them

I still don't know if I like this flat, open area out to the side. It does provide some space for a team attacking 2nd to maneuver, but it's just so flat and boring and is flanked by a death-pit, so it just feels a little off to me.

I'm really enjoying the map so far. keep up the good work!

Mearlitehttp://www.teamfortress.tv/31373/spyros-log-combiner

This still works, I just tried it out and it took me about 10 seconds to combine the logs

This is sick. I'll definitely be using this for gc situations from now on.

#611 Fantasy TF2: Let’s do this! in Projects

Alright, so the question of whether or not to include the golden caps is something I've always wrestled with, since there are obvious pros and cons to both options.

I've chosen to include golden caps this season (and for the last many fantasy league competitions) because I really dislike omitting data. Golden caps are part of the game, and arguably they are the most important part of a game, so simply ignoring everything that takes place during this part of the game just feels wrong to me.
Winning the game also also gives you points (+5 points to win a gc) and is generally a pretty big deal when it comes to scoring points. Shouldn't the winning team be rewarded with extra points? I think they should.

On the other hand, golden caps allows players to earn a disproportionate large amount of points for a relatively short amount of game time. It's really easy to get inflated DPM and K/D ratios which can result in someone (like clip) getting a massive amount of points "for cheap", while most other players will have low scores.
Including golden caps also messes with the PPG stats, which bothers me way more than it probably should.

The obvious solution to this problem would be to combine the GC log with the main log and then upload that to the system, but unless you can tell me an easy way to combine logs, I'm simply too lazy to manually sit and combine logs for such a minor gain.

Removing a player from the system is dangerous since if anybody owns scruff everything will go haywire for that person. I might remove him at a later date when I can reliably assume that nobody has him on their team, but until then he's staying in.

This is the most unsure I've ever been about which teams are going to be strong, so the prices are almost definitely terrible.

#15 Meet Your Map: Competitive Map making Challenge in TF2 General Discussion

You can find the rules by following the link in the OP. The relevant part for you is this:

"2. The map must be an original creation that has never been used in ETF2L, ESEA, OZFortress or UGC before. The map must be a koth or 5cp map. You cannot Submit a pro version of a map that is currently or was previously used in any of the listed leagues, no matter how old the map is. Want to make a pro version of cp_mainline or koth_ashville? Too bad, not allowed. Have you worked on a map for a while but it has still not been accepted into any league? These entries are allowed."

Najesu has come through big-time and has added 150€ to the prize pool. 100€ will go towards the mappers and 50€ will be put into the final tournament (more information about this at a later date)

The top prize is now 130€ and a SVIFT hoodie, while second and third place will receive 35€.

I don't know if Najesu has an account on these forums, but either way he deserves all our praises!

#11 Meet Your Map: Competitive Map making Challenge in TF2 General Discussion

I have a whole bunch of updates and news to share with you all, so I'll do my best to be short and concise:

1. Thanks to ETF2L releasing their s29 schedule I have moved the submission deadline to March 16th.

2. I have created a steam group with the goal of testing out the submitted maps and provide feedback: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/BeaterMapTestGroup . I'm going to try my best to stream these games.

3. The prize pool keeps growing! SVMZI of SVIFT-gaming have added a SVIFT hoodie to the first prize, and Mysterious benefactor Najesu has also promised to throw a bunch of money into the prize pool (we're still working out the specifics, so this isn't official yet). I'd also like to thank the surprisingly large amount of people who have contacted me offering to help out either through donating items, designing medals and so on. I've mostly turned these offers down since I didn't feel I could control them well enough, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the offers!

4. I made a youtube trailer for the contest. There's no new information in the video, but you get to see some neat overviews of the maps, and of course a few frags have been thrown in for good measure as well:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2KYKDJLFew

5. Essentials.tf keen on doing some more streams where we showcase the maps that have been submitted so far. The first stream we played all the maps briefly, but for the next event I'm looking for two teams (high or prem, or the American equivalent) willing to play two 30 minute maps against each other. Hopefully this will provide a more serious test of the maps, and you'd only have to give up half a night of scrims to participate. Contact me on steam, or just message me here if your team is interested in participating.

That's it for now.
