Bad Lag Type Issue

Aite,

Today i've been having really bad 'lag' of sorts. I've been on DM servers and my ping was about 40, but I was getting pretty noticeable tearing or rubber banding. I could see rockets pausing slightly in the air and rockets would land right next to people and not register (im shite on soldier but this wasn't just clipping).

I put netgraph on and my FPS seemed to mostly be 100 ish, but fell to 40 on occasion (obviously I couldn't watch netgraph whilst DM'ing).

Reckon this is an internet issue or something to do with my pc? I was downloading a game earlier but not for the last hour or so, unless it did updates I didn't notice.

I've got a pretty decent processor and graphics card, so I dunno if they've been knocked (probable) or are dusty or something. I think the performance isn't as good as it was a year ago, so I reckon it's dusty or I've knocked it or something.

ANy ideas what you'd do to check what the issue is or to fix? Realise the above might not be that helpful.

Obvious basic reply, but have you checked the GPU/CPU usage when this happens? Or more importantly the temperatures of those? If not there are a handful of programs out there, I personally use SpeedFan to monitor temps. My game was getting sort of unplayable because of my components getting too hot in the past.
Also I figured that somewhat weird behaviour like this might be caused by your hard drive being too full. I recently moved the game folder to another hard drive with more space after the previous one had only a few GBs left resulting in the game getting sort of laggy.

Obvious is fine. I know fuck all about this kind of thing, cheers/

Funny you mention the hard drive, because it is almost full. Less than 10gbs left.

I'll try what you suggest. Thanks for the response.

Only went on pubs as DM dead, but having deleted some stuff from the hard drive, I didn't have any issues.

Another game, Kingdom Come Deliverance, was a bit jittery earlier but that's saved on a hard drive with way more space, so I did wonder about the CPU/GPU thing. I'll test that,

I might be blind but I don't see the CPU temps there. TF2 usually consumes way more CPU than GPU. Any way you could check that?

Also do you know if you have multithreading enabled (basically allowing more than one core of your CPU to process the game)? The source engine is very bad at this and I had this and other source games going bonkers due to this feature.

Sorry,

Tr-walkway with tf2 in the background. EDIT, top liner is mid 40s and second line is late 50s or early 60s . Tr walkway hadnt opened on that screenshot

Not sure how to check multithreading.
