Hey guys,

i was thinking about refreshrates and resolution in TF2 and i wanted to know how important they really are.
so i setup a small questionnaire to analyse it a bit.

If you want to, fill it in :)

ill update the thread in a few days if i get some decent data

Just go to your video options in tf2 and you should be able to find it, surprising you don't know already.

if you have a wide aspect ratio in fullscreen, up until a certain point you are getting more horizontal FOV, so it does make some sense

no, it isn't up to a certain point, it is forever in fullscreen
windowed you only gain more horizontal FOV up to 1.85:1

i think rhettro just has an ultrawide monitor rather than stretching his res, those are a thing and they're super cool and useful

So,

57% of you is using 144 Hz
with 60 Hz being the 2nd most used (23%)

65% of you, are using 1920 x 1080 as your resolution.
2nd biggest group is the 1280 x 720 one, with only 8%

I divided you guys based on skill level, and looked at if Hz and experience mattered according to the data.

Turns out, Hz does correlate with the skill level (higher players tend to have a higher Hz) but if you look at how many years people have played tf2, it was a lot less important.

That is too say, How many years you have played is a better indicator for skill (who would have guessed).

so the conclusion is the longer you have played tf2 the more likely you are to have a higher refresh rate monitor?
maybe you should do one on mice, could be interesting.

correlation != causation, people who are more serious about games are more likely to buy a 144hz monitor so this doesn't really mean anything

A lot of you are either using an Asus (29%) or a BenQ (38%) monitor.

The most popular models are:

BenQ XL2411 (23 people)
Asus VG248QE (35 people)

The most common response time was 1 ms with 58%
(2nd would be 5ms)

As i said, i divided the skill levels in groups.
They look like this:

http://puu.sh/oQf8H/0dd6ecd717.png

Meaning most of you were either Open players (,00 in the data) Or High/IM players (2,00)

The average of TF2 comp experience is 3 years (ranging from 0 to 8 years for some)

Does this answer your question?
