Hello, I have been playing on a Dell Trinitron P1110 CRT the past couple days and it has been displaying 120hz at 1024x768 without a problem. However, today I restarted my computer and suddenly it is unable to go past 85hz, no matter which resolution. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Thanks!

Hello, I have been playing on a Dell Trinitron P1110 CRT the past couple days and it has been displaying 120hz at 1024x768 without a problem. Try adding custom resolutions, or do you mean that that monitor won't accept higher frequencies (eg Signal Out of Range error)?

Assuming Nvidia. This is how you actually add custom resolutions, the way you described your issue makes it sound like it isn't this but it's worth checking anyways

If it's an issue beyond that as you described in your OP, I used to have this issue. My (shitty) solution was to downgrade to 182.50 nvidia drivers (the last drivers before some 3d-related stuff was added iirc, could be totally wrong though). I didn't have to do this for over a year now though, currently on 340.52
Another possibility - when I play a game in fullscreen that changes my resolution it sets my refresh rate back to 85Hz every time

Hey just wanted to say thanks for the help, it actually ended up fixing itself after I unplugged the cables, waited 10 minutes and plugged them back. The issue has happened once every so often, but replugging the cables has always worked so far. When it only goes up to 85hz, the monitor is recognized as Dell P1110, and when it functions normally it is recognized as "Generic Non PnP Monitor." I actually have integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, but thank you all for your help anyways.

All you have to do is use the un-verified driver made by a certain individual, I have the link to and then you can make custom resolutions/refresh rates inside of nvidia control panel or desktop.
