I'm not sure how they're going to explain this regeneration bit going forward though, with the addition of the War Doctor between 8th and 9th.
EDIT2: GDI guys, you're no help...
EDIT3: your, you're, halp.

#1 Moffat said that the War Doctor, while he counts as a regeneration, doesn't count as a version of The Doctor. So Eccleston is the 9th Doctor but the 10th incarnation, Tennant is the 10th Doctor but the 11th incarnation, etc. Basically Smith -> Capaldi is the last regeneration before they timey whimey the regeneration limit away by him finding Gallifrey like is pretty obvious that they will (since there's precedent for the Time Lords giving people regenerations from The Master, and I'm sure for stopping the Time War the Doctor is up for at least another 12 regenerations, come on now).
As far as the episode goes...
It was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

I guess some something went down while I was asleep. The special was some nice fan-service with David Tennant returning, in all I enjoyed it.
*BTW* can somebody pm me the moist details of what happened yesterday?

As with most such "rules", there were occasionally exceptions to the twelve regeneration limit. The High Council offered the Master a new regenerative cycle if he rescued the various incarnations of the Doctor from the Death Zone. (TV: The Five Doctors) Although he did not receive this award on that occasion, during the Last Great Time War the Master was given the ability to regenerate at least once more. (TV: Utopia) It was implied he could regenerate further. (TV: Last of the Time Lords)
They are going back to Gallifrey, so it's completely possible to get another set.
