I like to chill in elo-less MGE servers because there are less mental factors to affect how people play. No one has reason to be intimidated by my elo rating, nor does anyone who would have a higher one have any reason to be overconfident or play annoyingly just to preserve theirs. I think people practice and play best when there is no extra pressure or doubt, which elo can bring. I play MGE to warm up, relax, and improve my horrible shotgun aim, not to deal with someone who fears losing their precious points and butt-soredly types "Nice counter-jumps" to every person they legitimately lose to.

!hud should just be enabled by default so this can happen.

Honestly, I kind of wish more mge servers would go on elo-less route. I don't have any backup for this claim, but I think giving points for performance makes many people go from "practice mode" into "gotta get them!" mode, which ultimately lead to the "Assholes in MGE" threads. Ghostcrawler (lead designer for WoW I believe) wrote something similar on this topic : "I would not have predicted that players would become so focused on efficiency. Not fun or improving themselves. Efficiency." Which doesn't sound bad, but I'm not sure if people who grind MGE care about efficiency in tf2 or more about efficiency of getting elo mge points. Many people prefer dm servers over mge nowdays, but if some points system was introduced on those dm servers, we would probably see change in playstyle there as well.
