After installing a new MB reinstall windows, and if not that do a windows repair.

Grab an Ubuntu distro, load it onto a usb stick (google unetbootin), and try booting Ubuntu from the stick and see if you run into the same problem.

Check that your RAM sticks are properly seated since you removed them already. Try testing each RAM stick you have individually. Make sure your motherboard is actually equipped to handle the RAM you have (this is much more common than it sounds).

Make sure your cables aren't blocking anything and are in solid.

Listen for unusual clicking near your hard drive(s).

Reset the CMOS battery if you can't think of anything else.

I tried to repair it from the disk itself and it said it couldn't, should I try using my Windows 7 CD?

You need the Windows CD to repair it. Load the CD and select language then hit next. The I think it says "install now" (dont click) and there is something on the lower left that says "repair your computer" and click that. Do a startup repair.

Then you most likely have to reinstall windows (don't forget to backup) Though you may still want to try gr8stalin's advice. Generally you need to reinstall windows after you install a new MB.

alright, thanks for your help guys. any recommendations on backup methods? I have a lot of data on my drive I don't want to lose.

Since you've already installed the new mobo, your options are limited.

1)Put the old mobo back in so you can access the Windows backup features (provided it even works at all)
2) Clone the drive on a different computer
3) Buy a new drive to use as your primary drive, reinstall Windows on it
4) I can't think of anything else.

Do you have AHCI enabled in the bios without having the SATA controllers installed.

Go disable AHCI/set the SATA controller back to IDE mode..

okay i got the new drivers and everything installed, but when i switch it to sata mode, the windows 7 loading screen stops midway and it still bluescreens. should I still reinstall?

but the fact that i can get it working in ide mode is great because i can make easy backups of stuff.

AHCI drivers usually wont get installed with the motherboard driver package. You'll need to find the actual .inf file for the AHCI driver and manually install the AHCI drivers for the SATA controller via Device Manager.

Also http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61869-ahci-enable-windows-7-vista.html may be another way but I usually just install the manufacture's driver manually.

where would the file be on the driver disc (if there)? like what would the name be? and if it's not on there where do i get it?

Don't use the drivers from the motherboard CD, it's always out dated. Either use the motherboard's support page or find the latest drivers yourself by searching the actual driver provider.

You can use the driver provided @ msi support page and download the file intel7x_rst_mb.zip, it includes a readme on how to install it as well.

(I'm assuming you connected the hard disks/SSD onto the intel controller)

wait, you mean the motherboard itself and not like a SATA card or something? because if so yeah it's directly connected to the MB.

your motherboard has 2 SATA controllers. One provided by Intel via the chipset and another by asmedia. The AHCI driver you need to install depends on which controller you have the HD's installed to.

consult your manual about which SATA ports are for which controller
