Since our first RGL LAN at Helix eSports Foxborough, we have wanted to run another LAN for our Invite 6s Playoffs. Organizing and planning a LAN does take a significant amount of time, work, and resources behind the scenes, so we appreciate everyone's patience. That said, we want to announce that we will host a LAN for the RGL 6s Summer 2024 Playoffs.
- New Venue - Localhost in Philly
We will work with Localhost Philly to host our second RGL LAN based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It should be noted that we considered many different locations before choosing this location. Important considerations for choosing this venue and location included the cost of renting the venue, the average cost of people to attend each venue location from different places in the US, access to rental computers for teams and staff, as well as stage and production equipment access. Lastly, we wanted a location that would be big enough to host an open tournament or pickup games (more information on this will be announced in a subsequent article) as this was heavily requested feedback from the community.

Confirmed Dates
The LAN will be taking place during the RGL 6s S15 (Summer Season) on the Invite playoff weekend from July 20th to 21st.
Edit: dates have been updated to the correct dates.
Additional Information
Information such as player and spectator passes, how to support the LAN, as well as tournament structure breakdown details will be announced in subsequent update articles.

From our previous LAN anyway, feedback that we saw a lot from AM-INV 6s is that people wanted an open tournament or pugs so we want to keep that option open for us with this venue. Looking to provide those details once we can finalize them.

This is a good thing but why does it have to be at the same time as invite playoffs? Teams in playoffs wont be able to compete in the open LAN and will instead be finishing out the regular season on LAN. I get that more than just the invite players want to be included but this solution actually excludes the Invite players from competing in the open LAN. It would be difficult for teams in playoffs to also compete in the LAN if thats the intention.

deep tf2 lore is that the whole point of the lan is for the invite players to complete playoffs offline
having an open lan so that the other attendees have something to do is just a nice extra

This is still on my mind for sure, the idea though is the open stuff is purely for fun.
And I think a lot of people were hoping to invite an EU team. I don't think it's in the cards for this event but strong considerations for the future. Really appreciate all the feedback I have gotten so far
cu@ obviously

since this lan is happening at the end of july I'm guessing the season will start early june right?
That means there's roughly 2.5 months of down time.
Can we get a cup or 2 for content/hype? could use it as a fundraiser opportunity for the lan pool too

I think this is a great idea, teams like G6 played in the shitty pughub tourney I imagine even more higher level players would play in an rgl cup, especially before lan.

RGL LAN Survey: We are looking for some feedback and interest in attendance for our 2024 RGL LAN in Philadelphia.
This will help us to get a general idea of how many players are interested in coming out to the LAN and also are interested in playing in open pugs/cups/etc.
Please take a moment and fill out our survey below!

It should probably be clarified that "the Cup" in the survey is referring to the potential open tournament.

the resup.gg lan at localhost last summer was super fun and chill, they even let us stay beyond closing time as service, great staff, great players, decent location (the nice part of philly). Would highly recommend pulling up if you haven't been to a tf2 lan before. cu@

Thanks. I went ahead and updated the survey to clarify this better.
To give more information about why we even have this survey, we want to get better numbers about how many people are interested in a potential open tournament/pugs/etc., so we can work with the venue to see how many PCs and stations we would need to reserve for the open tournament should there be enough interest.

We picked up an Airbnb for Fireside but unfortunately antlers can't come -- we have room for one (maybe two) and you don't have to pay, Fireside funds got you covered. If you're flying in I can pick you up since I'm driving to the LAN, just pay for my gas lol
