lately my team and friends have been telling me that my microphone starts to have lots of static to it and makes me barely understandable. we noticed that when i was out of game it reverted to good quality and when i start up my game then join a server it becomes bad again. because of this, i suspect it has something to do with a cfg command line but not sure what could be causing it.

ive already tried replacing the microphone, updating drivers, unplug replug, pc restart and so far no good so i'm pretty sure it's tf2. pls help

make sure your mic doesn't have the setting that allows applications to control it, that may be it. It may be changing the recording format and knowing how source in older games (ie CS 1.6) has awful recording sound codec.

emo's suggestion seemed to help for a while but then out of nowhere it got bad again so it might not be the only factor. bump

the problem is still happening but ive figured out that it might have to do with internet. in a regular night of scrims, my mic will sound fine at the beginning and get worse as we go on. if im streaming, it's accelerated. as far as i can tell its only a mumble problem because watching back the vod of my stream, the mic sounded perfectly clear throughout the entirety of the stream.
i have good internet so im curious if it might be limited to a certain amount it can use. if thats the case, is there any way to bring that limit up?

install glasswire and monitor network usage maybe

it isnt a fix, i know, but we need a bit more information than "its internet related" and "goes bad"
