It seems like all the shooter franchises are going back in time. Can only go so much into the future until all games are robot zombies themed I supposed.

I dont remember any memorable WW1 fps tho so this might be actually pretty cool.

If players can't die by gangrene then this is still not the WW1 game for me.

historically looking battles fought in time period near ww1 were infinite stalemates where it was almost impossible to push

something that tf2 gamers may relate to

shake your head as much as you like, but please do explain how it makes any sense. Soldiers died from gangrene from moving along dirty, wet trenches for weeks, after long phases of discomfort or pain, or as a result of complications from open wounds or fractures.
You are playing a 30-minute excerpt of a ground battle. If you are anywhere close to dying from gangrene at the start of the battle, chances are you are not gonna partake in it. If you aren't, you won't be until long after.

I wanna feature to piss on my handkerchief and wrap it around my face to protect myself from chemical attacks.

Although, after a lot of the hate from the generic modern fps genre, I wanna see how people react to this when it comes out. They didn't just go back to WW2, they literally took it another step backwards into WW1.

It is ww1, when a lot of new military advancements were skyrocketing out of thin air.

i think he means that they didnt really have a huge amount of tanks (germany had like 20 total i think?) and blimps and planes and shit to the point where 50 of them would die in a battle

but thats the case with modern planes in other BF games so idk

true, At the onset of WW1 you still had Cuirassiers in the French army with practically the same uniform as on Waterloo, and same with Prussian Cavalry, the big weapons being train-powered Artillery (which just looks awesome as fuck), human wave pushess, and gradually, zeppellins for reconaissance and later biplanes, with the first dogfights, being the pilot shooting each other with pistols while flying, to the machinegun which could fire inbetween the proppellor, chemical warfare being introduced (1/3 shells the American artillery fired were chemical, from rifles in use since the Franco-Prussian war, to the trench-cleaner shotgun, the bayonets on rifles being seen as unwieldly in hand to hand combat, so there were stromtroops, equipped only with grenades and a trench shovel or club. from cute little machine guns carried by dog sled to the introduction of tank warfare. in four years, each country tried to use everything in their power to win thrrough science and industrialising the way the war is fought. And then the war ends and the world is plagued with a fever that almost kills as much people, just such a horrible period for someone to go through. I can go dig in the fields where i live and still find old shells from the war.

I really liked BF2,3,4 and the Bad Company games. I'm more into the modern military games, but I'll probably pick this one up anyway.

I really wonder how they'll balance around the use of bolt action rifles in this game.

I'm really excited to see how this turns out.

Would be dope if this started out as like, hella realistic trench warfare where you're bogged down in trenches for mad long waiting on orders to attack and then everyone runs out of ammo so you just chill in trenches and try to ration your supplies.

Then you run out of supplies and it turns into one of those survival games where you have to catch food and build treehouses. CURVEBALLLLLLLLL.

Then the germans finally come over and are really confused cause you have a treehouse civilization.

Ok nobody steal that idea, I'm making a game.

For their lack of being able to name their games, they make up for it tenfold by the quality of their games. I had such a great time playing BFBC2. I hope this is just as fun if not more.

wasnt ww1 a really boring war where everyone was staying in the trenches and slowly died from mustard gas? doesnt really seem like a fast paced multiplayer

Call of Duty just got bitchslapped. Its unbelievable how out of touch they are with what gamers want that they packaged the CoD 4 remake with their shitty new game. Pay attention Activision, THIS is what gamers want.

You haven't even seen gameplay from either game so how could you possibly know if they're shitty or good.

WWI being purely trench warfare is like saying WW2 was purely an air war or Iraq was mostly on the ground. You're letting a western interpretation kinda tell you everything about it. The Eastern, Italian, Baltic, African, Middle Eastern, Early, and Late Western Fronts were all very mobile and not at all like what the average person pictures. It seems like the campaign will be focused on ottoman v somebody and maybe a later portion of the Western front, which were both fluid and fast paced fronts. The artistic license will also help, and the lack of more modern weapons like AtG missiles and anti tank shit seems like it might be really fun to play vehicles, infantry, and air vehicles for once.

I think IW is dead in the water outside of remastered. AW was fun, but definitely didn't draw like Blops2 or MW2 did, and the general consensus was the new movement and scifi direction weren't all that interesting or fun. I'm probably gonna grab Remaster if it sales by itself, but I'm actually mildly hyped about seeing what a combined arms WWI game will be like. I think this is such a weird step out of the comfort zone for everybody that we'll end up seeing a lot more interest from people who normally don't play BF
