The Invite cup should be played in a double elimination format if there are only 8 teams. It should work fine if you will use bo1 format in losers bracket and bo3 in winners bracket + if you will move the grand final to the next day. Whole cup will last only 1 more day (actually 1.5 h more) but there will be 2x more matches/fun. Another possibility is to start 1.5 h earlier and we'll finish it in 1 day if it's not too much maps to play for teams who will reach the grand final.

It does now actually, but even with the new addition we'd rather keep it to one day for the Invite series. Stretching the cup out over four or five days kills the hype for the cup by the end and it's difficult to keep consistent interest. With a 32-man cup it's better to keep the games to more friendly times than try and have as many games as possible.

It would only be 1.5h extra if you made the lower bracket bo1. So it means people sitting down to play games at 16:30CEST which is unappealing for almost everybody, and the only benefit is one extra map. Bo1s are notoriously inconsistent as well as being fairly pointless in this situation.

If we were to run a double-elimination tournament (which we will in the future), it would be Bo3 throughout but with less than 36 teams. It's a waste to compromise the double-elim tournament with Bo1 fixtures.
