If the community would get over having a LAN and an anti-cheat client temporarily, I could probably create a league that replicates almost everything else ESEA gets right, add more features that would actually be useful, and almost certainly charge less for the privilege. Of course, I probably wouldn't rake in nearly as much as ESEA does (considering they just agreed to a $350k settlement), but hey.

the thing about anti-cheat is the monitoring should stop once the client is closed, like they dont care if you cheat off client EG: You can still play in ESEA with a vac ban on record and if I remember right? (possibly wrong) And no way in hell provide a back door into your system....

A serious suggestion if you really only value ESEA for it's LAN - Why not make one of your local LAN events (GXL, ETS) or something an i-series equivalent? There was that recent one which had a lot of attending players, now if you do it perhaps during the summer, it will attract a bigger audience and allow NA scene to have a "must-do" LAN and as a community we can fund your best teams there and maybe one day Euros and Australians. I-series didn't become such a big deal in Europe because Americans attended, it was still THE LAN and it was all down to the community turnout at i40 and i43 surpassing anything we'd ever seen before.

Of course, having a regular LAN decider is a big thing for the scene, we'd love it in Europe despite having the summer i-series. Hence why a lot of the top teams signed up for ESEA in the hope that by sticking to it, we can see something similar appear eventually.

Don't forget about IGL

The shear cost of transporting people across the US makes it much more difficult. I'm not 100% on how your infrastructure is in EU, but over here almost all long distance travel is by plane.

I won't doubt this but people come in from all over Europe, including Eastern Europe, and considering UK is on the Western end of Europe, that is pretty impressive. It is like people from New York going to a LAN in California. It could be done, but it is more expensive to travel coast-to-coast in the USA, I know this...but it could be done.

I actually think your most recent big LAN (GXL?) had quite an impressive turnout, sort of event you can build on and build on really as a community. If you really want a great community LAN, you need to show the support (I'd love to attend a community based LAN in North America).

I was considering playing in Open, but FUCK that now.

The upload thing doesn't surprise me too much, VAC does the same thing, actually seems to be a pretty common feature in ACs just its used to upload screenshots that the AC itself takes normally. In VAC if the AC heuristics detects something it hasn't seen before in memory, it uploads the thing in question to Valve and they test it on their end to see if they need to flag it as a cheat or not.

The questionable thing is if ESEA really can just upload anything rather than just what is in memory, which I'm only not taking at face value because this was legal talk and legal stuff usually handles tech really poorly and doesn't communicate that stuff really well.

Not at all surprised about the bitcoin stuff tho.

Had esea client downloaded, fun stuff to remove the tracker FUN STUFF

Usually every time i visit the esea website my malware indicator pops up stating threat is detected........just saying

Mine is still installed but ESEAdriver2 doesn't show up here, how can I get rid of it?

For the record it's been well over a year since ESEA client has been on my computer at all.

EDIT: it seems to be ~\AppData\Local\Temp\ESEADriver2.sys

Just to clear up, the CEVO client is all safe and sound right?
Also, does this mean esea should die out for team fortress 2?
