Which one gives better performance? Are there any cons with windowed-noborder?

only downside to window-noborder that I know of (besides reduced performance) is that you can't adjust gamma.

You can somewhat do this with a hud edit. http://teamfortress.tv/forum/thread/3179/1#post-45102

This has already been posted in the forums, but the answer is it differs, but you will get better fps in fullscreen, because windows has stuff running in window mode that are disabled in fullscreen

In windowed I get frequent fps drops. Not sure why.
240 34 225 17 260 25
Really annoying.

Small FPS drop in exchange for being able to alt tab easily... easy choice for me.

i set up rivatuner with some custom hotkeys to change gamma settings in windowed mode. it also comes in handy in other games and watching some streams that are a bit too dark

Full screen alt tab got REALLY better recently.

Almost no difference.

I believe fullscreen mode halts your rendering when you alt-tab. This is quite annoying for your viewers if you are streaming, as they have to look at a static picture while you are dead and your teammates are talking (see MGEMike, kiler4fun).

I'm sure you know better than I do about streaming (as I've never done it), but many of us here don't stream and I'm sure a good number of them can find utility in the upgraded alt-tab function.

Alt-tabbing with fullscreen is virtually instantaneous, has been for over a year now probably? The only unique/advantageous option that windowed mode provides, is when you alt-tab it doesn't minimize tf2.

One of the cons of windowed mode, slightly mentioned by #8, is windows aero extensions. If you don't have desktop composition disabled, and windows aero disabled in your in-game tf2 options, then you will likely experience a loss of performance and worst of all - input lag - in windowed mode.

When running in windowed mode be sure to not run windows aero (desktop compositing) if you're running windows 7, the fps difference with it on/off is night and day.
