Hi all!
It's been a while since you've heard anything from us, so we thought we'd come out with a bang, and give you guys something entertaining leading up to our trip to i49 in the UK in August. After some deliberation, we’ve determined that the best way to provide an excellent event for the community is to represent the entire community. This representation is going to be achieved by creating a head-to-head competition between the best of Australian Highlander and 6’s, with some bias to a format which will be the most exciting for spectators.
On Sunday 30/6 at 01:00 EDT (15:00 AEST), there will be two best of 3 map series’ (played with standard competitive rulesets) between velox Destruo and team immunity, with an opportunity for 3 generous individuals with a passion for tf2 to contribute their skills to the contest.
Series 1: 6v9
The first series will be played directly as iM(6) vs vD(9), where it will be interesting to see if the classic competitive format can overcome the 3 player disadvantage on the following maps suited to pseudo 6v6:
cp_gravelpit
cp_snakewater
koth_ashville
Series 2: 9v9
It is through the second series that the community can make an impact. In the interests of creating a more equal playing field, the iM team is offering the 3 remaining positions to the three highest donating individuals from the time of this post until the end of the first series. This is a great opportunity for 3 members of the community to jump straight into the fun, and get their name up on the big stage. The 9v9 will be played on the following maps suited to highlander:
pl_swiftwater
koth_arctic
cp_gullywash
This event has a community focus, and while there is an opportunity for those who are feeling generous to assist us in our i49 endeavour over at i49au.tf, the purpose of this event is to bring the two halves of the competitive community together in a fun environment and share it with the rest of you.
These games will definitely be casted/streamed, and we hope to see you there!
PS: Look for the first video from our stretch goals soon!
