#25 What headphones to get? in Hardware

>I don't believe in break-in.

With these two headphones you'd be very wrong.

>Different mic position makes a big difference even if the mic wasn't breaking the seal.

If the mic isn't breaking the seal then the highs are exactly the parts that it wouldn't effect on this analyzer -- certainly not the rolloff. The phasing effects of the mic location become harmonic (unless your distance is high, as in, think feet) and you can't see them on a low resolution analyzer like this; certainly not in the 10khz range.

>innerfidelity

Credibility ruined.

>Also that testing "methodology" won't get you consistent results anyway.

Of course not, we have no idea how far broken-in each pair he had was.

If you're talking about the mic, I'll trust two recordings off of the same mic on the same day a hell of a lot more than comparing fancy frequency response graphs made by completely different people using god-knows-what methodology. Additionally, he has the sound play into the mic for several seconds for a reason, and small differences in mic location wouldn't result in the different high treble that he saw.

>You recommend the mdrV6, but looking around online it seems the mdr-7506 is better in someway?

They're nearly identical. The mdr-v6 are supposed to have slight crosstalk between channels but it's not something you would notice unless you're doing very specific kinds of audio work. Also, for some reason, they have a slightly different frequency response.

#44 165hz Asus monitor in Hardware

>165Hz = 165FPS = a frame every 6ms. Add in the 4ms refresh rate and you have 10ms delay

No, this isn't how the average latency of fixed refresh rates work (it's half the frametime), and it's also not how color response time works (which is much more nuanced).

In reality the latency you're looking at will be more like 3+2.5ms or around 5ms.

Of course cable bandwidth and small vblank intervals increase latency towards the bottom of the panel if you're vsynced, but if you're running double buffered non-vsynced output, high ingame framerates will dramatically reduce the effects that this has. I'm on linux and use compton with vsync disabled and it results in, on the bottom of my screen, the titlebars of windows that I'm moving being ahead of the mouse cursor, which is separately buffered from the rest of the screen by the GPU.

#32 TF2 Update for 11/13/15 in TF2 General Discussion
VanguardDLKturbine to match turbine_pro

no

Turbine pro introduces more problems than it solves for literally every single method of play that isn't 6s (yes, even smaller ones, like 4v4; we played). Stock turbine can certainly be improved, but that banana connector is a huge wart for everything that isn't 6s.

#35 Best mouse? in Hardware

Not all FK1 manufacturings have click delay, but you're really rolling dice when you buy one because there's backstock on pretty much all hardware.

#33 Best mouse? in Hardware

re:finalmouse 2015:

higher tracking latency than other 3310 mice. 4ms instead of 2ms. very lightweight though and pretty good shape, competent click delay. surface compatibility problems.

would only recommend for the most specialized of players. Otherwise, if you still want a 3310 mouse, get a KPM or something

#20 cp_mountainlab_pro discussion in Map Discussion

the stuff disappearing from the thin lines is a VVIS bug

I had it happen on a map I made with weird geometry

It shouldn't be happening with rectangular geomtry, but it is.

The only thing you can do is change the geometry nearby to make the bug stop happening

#31 Trade Vertical Fov for Horizontal in Customization

Why doesn't valve just adopt a capped diagonal FoV? Then aspect ratios would be a tradeoff instead of forcing you to use ones that don't fit your monitor in order to be the most competitive.
