I had some food crumbs on the floor once and one day I noticed a stream of tiny ass ants coming from under the wall to the food. I turned a can of that dust off stuff upside down and froze the shit out of them then sucked them all up. Haven't seen an ant indoors since.

lambdaswedeslambdaOK, please excuse my lack of coherency. I start tf2, bottom right hand corner I have all the game performance indicators. fps, ping, in, out, lerp. (don't know what this is called sorry.) I open command console, I type in "cl_interp 0.01". When I did this before, my lerp number would change from "100.0ms" to "60.0ms". Know when I enter it, the number stays "100.0". I tried "cl_interp 0.05 also and nothing happened.

Edit: fyi: I'm doing this on the same servers as I did before when the command worked.

That is called net_graph, you have it set to 1 (net_graph 1)

make sure that your other net settings are set to the "correct" values, you can find them in any of Chris' fps configs. Sometimes if you don't set your rates right the interp won't set right either.

here are the net settings that I use:

cl_cmdrate "66"
cl_interpolate "1"
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck "1"
cl_lagcompensation "1"
cl_interp_ratio "1"
cl_updaterate "66"
cl_smooth "1"
cl_smoothtime "0.1"
rate "25000"

and I use cl_interp 0.0152 for projectiles and cl_interp 0.033 for hit-scan.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed you mention something regarding Chris' fps configs. I do in fact use max frames. Are you saying I need to open the config file, find these settings and change them to what you stated in your post? I appreciate your detailed post, but I'm still a little unsure of where to enter these commands at. Thanks.

those are the "good connection" settings from chris' maxframes config. If you remove the // before each command, it will use them. He comments the commands out (thats what the // does) to disable them in case a player has their own net settings. So if you take it out they will apply. Try it and let me know if the problem persists.

Also there is no need to change to what my config uses, it was just an example that I had on hand.

Oh, and change that cl_interp 0 to cl_interp 0.0152 actually, with a recent update I think that cl_interp 0 messes something up

I'm sure the article at the end will properly educate you on this but from what I've noticed visually and gameplay wise, when you use a high interp (the default is cl_interp .1 I beleive) it seems to increase the time between when your shot hits the player, and when the effects of the shot (not just damage) actually register on the player. If you use default interp and you shoot a wall with a rocket you will notice that the rocket seems to explode a tiny bit after the rocket actually hits the wall. with cl_interp 0.0152, the rocket seems to explode at the same time that it hits the wall. Also with a high interp if you shoot someone with a hitscan weapon you will notice that the knockback from your shot applies a little after the shot and damage applies, but with cl_interp 0.033 the damage and knockback are applied at the same time. There are technical reasons that we use values such as 0.0152 and 0.033 that have to do with tick rates and such of TF2 servers, and you can learn all of that stuff if you read this article: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1353969
