Wouldn't playing at fullscreen (or fullscreen windowed), default res -sw -w 1680 -h 945 and fov_desired @ 75 give you a similar result?

You might have an extra 5 degrees or so of FOV over what you're going for, but it's pretty close.

What's wrong with the driver? Doesn't mx518 have a driver for this specific task?
