#1 TF2Center Update: Advanced Lobbies! in Projects

Many players on TF2Center find it frustrating when their teammates aren't joining Mumble, when their teammates aren't giving it their best and especially when their teammates intentionally fool around instead of having a serious attitude. On one hand, it's a game, and on the other, it's an e-sport.

Launched today after a lot of development and anticipation, Advanced Lobbies are now playable on TF2Center! Advanced Lobbies are lobbies that are meant for semi-experienced players, who find joy in playing a lobby with their gameface on, and where all their teammates are ready and backing them up.

Only a certain amount of people will have access to Advanced Lobbies right off the bat though. They must either be experienced in playing Competitive TF2 (ETF2L Mid or higher, UGC Steel or higher), or they get access if they are in the top 20% of tf2playerrankings.com, and lastly, exemplary behaviour on TF2Center (previous bans are taken into account) can also give one access to Advanced Lobbies.

After being approved for Advanced Lobbies, the player must set up the small monthly payment of just 1€ per month(keys are also accepted) – note that donators are excluded from this fee. Not only does this slightly make a stronger level of commitment from the players themselves, but with that money we will sponsor community projects like logs.tf and tf2pug.me, leagues, teams, prize money for cups and tournaments or even a community LAN!

#1 TF2Center User Survey and Donator Status giveaway in Projects

Hi there!

As you know, TF2Center has been stable for quite a while. While the world around us is constantly changing, it’s time to move forward.

With almost 100.000 registered users, we would like to know what you think of our services, and help us decide what to do next. This survey is a first step towards this.

Anyone who enters their TF2Center Profile URL in the survey will be automatically added for the prize drawing of 1 year of Donator Status on TF2Center, though of course you can also choose to leave the option blank if you wish to be completely anonymous.

The survey can be found here: https://tf2center.typeform.com/to/WRwSWe

Thanks for helping us improve the website!

#74 TF2GAMES in The Dumpster

Sounds like snake oil so far. 5000 servers and 300 dollar anti-cheat, which can detect cheats that are on clientside but is actually serverside but also clientside but doesn't need install? or maybe i'm being too confused?

Why would you need to spend so much time making 5000 gameservers? The TF2 Competitive community isn't this big, and all the serveme.tf servers aren't even occupied during the day. This 5000 number just sounds like clickbait scam. Something a kid with come up with. I'm pretty sure it's also very expensive to run Replays on all servers, and be able to have 6 live spectators constantly. And with 6 live spectators, what about ghosting? 8].

When a player leaves a game, they have 3 minutes to come back before abandoning? That's a bit little for a game that is so badly optimized. If my gaming laptop crashes TF2, it takes about 5 minutes to start up the game and launch the first game of the session. Don't do this CS:GO style..

"While the matchmaking is waiting for sub to register to the game, the player who left will be replaced by a bot, which is really advanced. I and few of my coder friends spent years to code it. Bot will have all the cosmetics that player had, as well as all the weapons."

Why is this needed? The normal TF2 bots on expert can actually do fine, and there's no need to have the same cosmetics, not really worth years of coding.. "Which is really advanced" doesn't tell us much, but I suppose that sentence is basically the summary of all your replies, as in "Trust me it just works and is supercool no proof needed"

Editing your own profile? "Now this is what everybody says is the greatest thing about this project." - Says who? Steam already has this, and why does "everybody" care more about backgrounds and profile modification than having a functioning lobby system?

You also go on about ranks which I don't even really know what to think about. Precise ranking in TF2 is next to impossible. You have to account for different classes, different teams and how they play together, different weapons and different playstyles, and there are plenty of things that are hard to track. You also say that ranking will be "kinda hidden" and will be "hard to bring up on the website", but you also say that you can join any game with any rank? Then why have a ranking system at all? If you can't see it and it's not actually used on the website for any back-end purposes, why have it? Are you just gonna display a division number next to peoples names without any background information?

Also the way that these devs respond to questions with either vague replies that don't give any actual answer, or downright hostility.

Will be excited to see how this plays out.

#44 The Heaviest Frag Movie in Videos
6v6enthusiastSorry but I think heavy is pretty noob class..
Low skill ceiling and made for children.

Eh, the skill lies more in the "game sense" than in the aim or DM itself. You'll find that playing heavy in lower divs is easy-mode, while it gets way harder in top HL divs. I do agree that some other classes (esp. 6s players) have more DM skill than I do, but I still see them getting pooped on when they come play Highlander in Prem =)

HarbingerSerious suggestion for future reference, the 6k, 7k, 8k kinds of clips are more impressive than the soldier-denying clips. It really wasn't that bad in my opinion. You have something you are proud of and I think that's pretty cool.

True enough, I just had a stack of them if I wanted to line the clips up with the music and I needed like a filler-video of 3-4 seconds. Turns out I used a lot of them after all. Thanks though mate

A bit controversial because the I think the major opinion of the competitive community has the view that Heavy takes no skill, but I'd like to show some nice frags I've gotten over the past year.

#1 General 6v6 guides? in TF2 General Discussion

Hello!

I'm looking for a decent 6v6 player who will provide small basic guides on how to play the classes in 6v6.

I'm making a new TF2 Lobby site, and we need some basic guides on how to play the classes in 6v6 (Just some general guides for the more new to competitive players). I've got the Highlander guides figured out, but i play 6v6 very rarely so i don't really know very much.

If anyone is so kind to give me a few descriptions of Scouts, Pocket Soldier, Roaming Soldier, Demoman and Medic please post them here :)

Thanks

@synchro: Thanks for the input! I agree with you on a lot of these things.
I can definitely use this. I am no longer clueless!

Why would you like to make this info private and not public?
