#1 Soldier LF High Open Team in Recruitment (looking for team)

Sup I'm pretty much just looking to play pocket or roamer for a high-ish open team. Preferably pocket. I can kinda main call, but I don't really wanna be the only dude calling. Scrim schedule is pretty open and flexible. I finished 8th in s12 open and played half a season of IM with gank and the meisters. Just looking for a chill team that doesn't rage.

It would be cool if there was a command you could use to add your own delay to the stv you're watching so you could sync it up to the stream cast in the background.

#5 UGC-HL Platinum Predictions Week 3 in News

Yeah it'll probably get cleared up by next week. I'm always a little sad when plat teams die because it's usually the result of them not really belonging there in the first place. It's not always an easy thing for the admins or team leaders to know exactly where a team should be, but hopefully people are brainstorming some changes to help solidify the divisions, especially platinum.

#218 Invite Player Rule lifting- made any difference? in TF2 General Discussion

It's sad that the hate against UGC has gotten so bad that people will take wombraider's complete bullshit for gospel. None of what he said is even remotely accurate.

#38 My words of encouragement and stuff for u in TF2 General Discussion
radiumgank and the meisters were once 4-4 - coming off of a loss to wtf. - and rallied to finish 10-6. gank's team is in IM right now.

Yeah we pretty much had the hardest starting schedule in open that season. The only reason we won a playoff match though was because it was viaduct and we had the best heavy in the game. We weren't even going to play in im this season until, at the last minute, killing promised the whole team freemium if we played. So we scraped together a team of friends and are now playing way out of our league in im. Turns out as well that what killing meant by "freemium for the whole team" was really only 2 one month codes after we had to show him screenshotted proof of his promise.

I like playing 6s but it's gonna be really hard to stay positive when your team has pretty much no chance of winning even one match. I guess the best thing to do if you're in a similar situation is to just accept where you're at as a team and realize that getting better is a slow and time-consuming process. No need to get mad and frustrated over losing because I think the goal of a team should be improving as much as possible over the course of a season, not necessarily getting a bunch of wins. Of course I could just be making heartfelt excuses because I'm bad. But yeah if you had fun you won.

#49 Pre-season highlander gossip in TF2 General Discussion

Pretty sure the rules weren't changed mid match, but they were VERY confusing. Not sure the admins really put a whole lot of thought into them. It would make sense to limit the finals to only one of each config type. That way you would only have one stopwatch map instead of 2 or 3 so you could play the full map and still save time with the shorter koth and 5cp maps. Who wants to see two payload maps anyways not to mention gpit as well. It would be much better from a spectating standpoint to have multiple map-types played.

#8 Looking for UGC Plat in Recruitment (looking for team)

Then he should say that he's looking for 6's. Literally makes no mention of anything 6v6 related in his post and all of the experience listed is from HL. Makes sense to come to the conclusion that he's looking for a HL team.

One big flaw I see with offering freemium to UGC teams is that you would probably see a lot of open and maybe some im players making teams just to cash in on that opportunity. Most of the top teams in UGC are already full of open and im players anyways. Doesn't seem like the incentive would go to the players that need it the most. And it's probably not even necessary since like everyone has said a lot of teams graduate from UGC 6s to open already.

About all the nasty youtube comments though, it seems like that kind of stuff is inevitable when there's that kind of a divide in the community. Not that the divide is a bad thing at all, but it gives shitheads something to argue about. "6v6 IS BETTER" "NO HIGHLANDER IS BETTER". I doubt that kind of idiocy will ever go away. That being said I strongly encourage everyone to try out both formats. They're both a lot of fun because it's still TF2, the game we all play. Not everyone is going to be your best friend, but everyone should realize that the people who bicker and troll are a small minority of the people who play this game. Already you can see in the comments of that video people balancing out the trolling and shit talk with sensible ideas and talking points. Have faith that deep down this community isn't completely overridden with assholes.

#57 Invite Player Rule lifting- made any difference? in TF2 General Discussion

It felt good to beat a team like mTs, just like it felt good to beat tangerine with b4nny and cyzer playing. But I would be shocked if anyone on bonus got much of an ego from it. We pretty much all understand that if invite players practiced HL anywhere near as much as 6s it would be completely different.

It does bother me a little when some invite players make comments about HL that make the format seem like a complete joke. I could be wrong about this, but it seems like that kind of view sets an example for a lot of other people in the 6s community. Me and some of the people from bonus made an esea open team this season, and I was surprised by how many people tried to troll us or talk shit about us just because we were HL players. I guess shit talk will happen regardless, but I can see why some people who enjoy playing HL would feel ostracized. That's just been my experience in open though.

As far as the original topic goes, if anyone even cares anymore, we have squider playing scout for us this season, and it's been very interesting listening to his perspective in terms of calling and strategy. I wouldn't say it's drastically changed anything in our meta-game, and squider doesn't always make the right calls, but he's definitely been teaching us some things about pushing, advantages, and positioning. I would say the biggest change has been making the game a little more fast paced with more aggressive and coordinated plays, especially more capitalization on small advantages. I think if HL continues like this it will only get better and more organized. And that's why platinum teams like us really wanted the invite limit lifted in the first place.
