#9 UGC Season 12 Map List Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

Steel and gpit use to be alternated each season so it's weird to see them both in at the same time. Should be interesting I guess.

I'm definitely not thrilled about coalplant instead of ashville. Coalplant is too tight and the sniper lines are way too good. Ashville was already probably the most balanced koth map for HL (the only one where sniper doesn't completely dominate). Not sure why we couldn't just stick with that version.

Also confused about barnblitz preseason. I mean we know exactly what the problems are with that map so I don't really see the need for further testing unless it were a radically different version of the map. I would've liked to see snakewater for preseason. People have been asking for it for a long time and it's seen play in pugs for at least a year.

OH SHIT NO GRANARY. FINALLY MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!

Overall good map list. I'm going to predict that week 4 coalplant will be VERY interesting.

#9 Dishonored in Other Games

Story is pretty bad and it has some very abusable mechanics that make the game very easy (teleporting and seeing through walls with basically no repercussions). The setting is very cool though and the art style is pretty. Too bad the game incentivizes you to be in constant looking-through-walls vision.

#3 UGC Community Donation Drive in News

I agree it's a lot. But you don't have to donate that if you don't want to. This is really about testing the waters for how much money people would be willing to put up to sponsor a community league.

Either way though what would you like to see the mentoring number at (20? 30?), or what incentives would you like to see instead?

And yeah we have about 25 mentors which is more than we expected, but we definitely don't wanna burden them to the point where they don't have the time to deliver.

#10 UGC Plat Highlander: Street Hoops eSports vs. Menace to Society in Events

Both map choices seem pretty good. Duwatna isn't that amazing on granary and mTs on swiftwater well.. I hope harbleu knows how the spawn doors work this time around.

I believe viaduct was the admin pick and luckily I don't think either team will have any inherent advantage on it. That's assuming it goes to a third map anyways.

#4 UGC Plat Highlander: Ginyu Force vs. Apocalypse Gaming Highlander in Events

Unfortunately HL can be like that. Hard to put together a team of 9 players that are not only good but have good chemistry. So to win the whole thing typically requires not only skill but stability.

But yo I'm hella nervous about tonight. Gonna be a good one.

#6 UGC Plat Highlander: Menace to Society vs. Baby Punching Marathon in Events

Well not even the seeding matters too much because it'll be double-elimination anyways. Even if you get a less than optimal seeding and have to play Ginyu or Street Hoops early on you still have the opportunity to fight back up. So if BPM loses it'll just barely put them in 7th and they'll have to play Ginyu first round on process. If BPM wins then there's gonna be a huge clusterfuck for 3rd, 4th, and 5th between mTs, BPM, and DRS. But either way those 3rd-5th seeds will still be facing Street Hoops or Ginyu in the second round on viaduct. So really seeding just determines what map you play a certain team on instead of the actual teams you play like the old single-elimination playoffs. And the first seed doesn't get an automatic pass to the finals anymore either.

#50 Eminem in Off Topic

I didn't like Berserk when I first heard it, but I have to say it's growing on me slightly now. Either way it's tough to say how much the song will be indicative of the album as a whole because singles are usually meant to be poppy and radio-friendly. The thing I want to know is how much of the production will be rick rubin stuff and how much will be more traditional dre type shit. Also wtf ever happened to the bass brothers? If he's gonna make an album called MMLP 2 it would be nice to see them produce a few tracks at least.

#48 Official UGC Platinum Season 11 Predictions, Power Rankings, and Player Rankings in News
SoapCollidehttp://logs.tf/49508

Satan is the Jesus of pyros. Idk how he does it but he sneaks behind entire teams without them knowing.

Looks like pudding cup likes the pyro heals. Imagine that

If you look at the heal discrepancy between the two heavies you'll figure out where Satan was able to get those heals from.

Good article except for the rankings. The idea that anyone would think mustardoverlord has any informed opinion on who's the best at each class is unsettling. Besides in the end who's the best on one class is not very consequential. I guess it is fun to argue about it though =/

#21 Pre-season games in UGC in TF2 General Discussion
HildrethGinyu Force forfeited that and they didn't face any of the other higher seeds until week 5, we faced mTs in week 3 then BPM in week 4. All the teams that won their pre-season games faced better teams, it had a bearing. I am not saying Ginyu purposely set out to do this, just the way the admins set it up was incorrect.

But my point still stands. TS played mTs week 3 and BPM week 4.. and Ginyu played mTs week 4 and BPM week 5. It's not like Ginyu got to circumvent playing those teams or even delay playing them for long. In fact it even bit them in the ass playing BPM on barnblitz. In the end there's no way to avoid playing teams at or above your level unless you want to start throwing regular season matches too. And then there's always playoffs anyways.

ReasonerI wasn't meaning to say I wanted to or was going to ( If I did) I meant to say someone could do it, which is a problem around the system if that match matters in that way. And unless the admin I asked was wrong, again it effects their division not who they play in week 1.

What does "affects their division" mean exactly?
