#4 Is My Motherboard Dead? in Hardware
TheFragileI'm assuming you don't have a motherboard with LED codes, because that would be helpful to see its thought process upon turning it on.

It sounds like it could be a motherboard issue, especially if you can't tell if it does anything at all upon turning it on. My roommate had a drink spilled on his computer, and his motherboard got ruined. Like your scenario, there would be no display and we couldn't tell if it got anywhere at all upon turning on. I would entertain the idea of taking out your video card and trying to use onboard video, just to make sure it's not some weird video card issue (honestly unlikely but you might as well try). Other than that, it sounds like it's the motherboard, which sucks. :(

Funny thing, it was raining very lightly earlier today and the window behind my PC was slightly open...

#1 Is My Motherboard Dead? in Hardware

I was on my computer earlier when it just rebooted for seemingly no reason. 30 seconds after it booted into Windows, it restarted again but this time there was no display on the monitors. I tried holding down the power button to shut it down, but nothing happened. I flipped the switch on the power supply and cleaned the dust out of thr computer in hopes of fixing it. I also replugged most of the main cables and reset the CMOS battery while I was at it. When I tried turning on the PC again and it still didn't work, I removed both sticks of ram to see if the motherboard would beep, but it didn't. The problem stayed exactly the same. This leads me to believe that my motherboard is dead. All fans/lights are running fine but I'm not sure the computer even posts. Any advice or knowledge would be great, thanks.

#3 Stretching 4:3 resolution to 4:9 in Customization

Try installing a different version of CCC. My settings are under the "My Digital Flat-Panels" -> "Properties (Digital Flat-Panel)". I think I have the latest version.

#11 Can't change brightness on dx8 in Q/A Help

I fixed the problem by disabling aero extensions in the advanced video options ingame.

#10 Can't change brightness on dx8 in Q/A Help
Bucakeso, if you don't touch anything on your computer, and simply change dx8 to d9 in tf2, then it works again..?

That is correct.

#8 Can't change brightness on dx8 in Q/A Help

Bump. I am sure that the game is running in full screen. In windowed I'm pretty sure you can't even open the brightness slider in options, but I can, it's just that moving the slider doesn't change anything.

marmadukeGRYLLSsomething hidden in the config thats locking the brightness?

Would be weird if there was a setting that would lock brightness on dx8 and not dx9.

#4 Can't change brightness on dx8 in Q/A Help
spammyTry mat_monitorgamma value maybe? Never had this problem before, even tho I'm using dx81

mat_monitorgamma also doesn't change anything. I used to be able to use dx8 without problems but I don't know what's changed now.

#1 Can't change brightness on dx8 in Q/A Help

When I'm on dx9 I can change the brightness just fine, but when I change to dx8.1 I can slide the brightness slider in the options but it doesn't change anything. I am running in full screen and using Comanglia's config.

Edit: Problem solved by disabling aero extensions ingame.

#10 Troubleshooting TF2 crashes & problems in Q/A Help
Dave_check your multithreading commands because those can sometimes cause crashes due to instability

cl_threaded_bone_setup 1 //set this to 0 if you're not on an i7 chip
cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 0
r_queued_decals 0
r_queued_ropes 1
r_queued_post_processing 0
r_threaded_client_shadow_manager 1
r_threaded_particles 1
r_threaded_renderables 1

All my settings are the same and cl_threaded_bone_setup is set to 0 (I have a 3570k)
