#21 A song for the Combo in Off Topic

Can I use this in a future frag movie?

dan_cThis was an amazingly well made frag video, probably the best I've ever seen in terms of technical ability. That being said why did he include that clip of the sniper slitting the spies throat, definitely took me out of it and to be honest it was kind of disturbing.

I would argue this was a very poorly made frag video, but an amazing movie in terms of cinematics and technical effects. This is probably just a matter of opinion on what the term frag video/movie should mean though.

ThomasduhtraindellortboppetHonestly, I like these kind of threads, it gives the people something to talk about and debating and discussing is really cool as long as no one gets angry or heated. I personally would love a section on the forum for debates, the animation forum I used to regular at had one, and the members debated a numerous amount of controversial issues, like religion, gay marriage, the use of the word "nigga", legalizing marijuana, piracy, etc. It's another way for people to get to know each other.
I agree, most people see these threads as negative (I think back to when the documentary was released and we debated whether or not the cost of the high quality version was justified or not), but in fact they're probably the best way for people to develop their skills in debating, learn of the opinions of others (and perhaps incorporate some of those ideas into their own opinions) and many other things. I especially appreciate June's posts because he often brings out harsh opinions in a very blunt/rude manner, and while it perhaps isn't the most meaningful way to post it definitely is effective in starting debates.

heh i know people how have slept in the office for 2-3 days straight right now, and during work hours we are completely logged(since we charge based on man hours, and you'll definitely get fired if it's discovered you went and took a jog when you were suppose to be working)

And i know quite a few nurses who work absurd hours sometimes coming close to the 120 hour in a week mark. There's also the fact that people have kids, you can't exactly tell your SO "yea watch the kids all by yourself i'm gonna go hit the gym for the few hours a week that i'm actually home" The best i can think of is running to and from work(which if you commute like 6+ mils away isn't really plausible) It's probably possible but at the cost of missing time with your children, or SO is a pretty crazy cost.

I personally don't have this problem at all, i work and go to school the rest of the time is my own, but if i was employed full time(getting accounts instead of doing grunt work) and i had a family i could easily see my self dropping 10-15 pounds of muscle.

I mentioned this in another thread a long time ago, but making changes towards a healthier lifestyle doesn't have to involve running 6+ miles or hitting the gym for a few hours each day. It can honestly mean doing a few squats while waiting for the printer at the office to print out the papers you're waiting on, or doing a few short sets of crunches in bed before you fall asleep. I understand some people have work schedules and other commitments which make it extremely difficult to find time to exercise, but when these small steps can literally be accomplished in seconds there really is no excuse. Don't underestimate the effect that low numbers of reps of exercises have over a long duration of time. Even just five extra minutes of walking a day for someone who works long hours at a desk job can make a difference.

FzeroThere is a big difference between making excuses and having valid reasons and you act like no reasons are true? I would love to know what you do for a living and how many hours that you work? If you don't have extra time to spare, then exactly when do you exercise? Walk to work, bike? The majority of Americans travel around 25-30 minutes to get to work? So should someone spend 3 hours biking to work when they barely have enough time as it is? Every single example that you gave is that they had an option to get exercise, but they choose not to. What about those that want the option to exercise, but legitimately can't?

"those that want the option to exercise, but legitimately can't" refers to such a small number of people that it really isn't relative to this thread. Sure the daily routine you described isn't close to ideal, but to make the claim that some people truly cannot find the time to exercise is complete bullshit. I guarantee if I were placed in your position for a few weeks (given the knowledge, education, etc. that you have) I would be able to work/live as you do on a daily basis and find ways in which I could eat more healthily and exercise more.

I don't really have an issue with obesity, if people want (or don't want) to live their lives unhealthily and essentially nonfunctionally then they can do so, it doesn't bother me. The biggest issue I have is when people who want to lose weight seem to accept the fact that they might not be able to and don't even try to do anything to fix it. Even if one is "genetically bound to be obese" and walking for 30 minutes a day won't do anything to help them lose weight, they should walk anyways. If they aren't at least trying then they have no reason to complain or expect sympathy from others.

NoonaI really enjoyed. The cinematic feel was amazing and frags were outstanding. However I wasn't a big fan of the music choice when the frags were showcased and would have preferred a little more music syncs.

Yeah, the reason I mentioned the cinematics and not the overall editing was because the music choice was pretty unfitting for the rest of the editing tbh. Light/happy-tempo music doesn't go well with darker colours and a "gory" editing feel.

Best cinematics I've seen in a frag movie.

Didn't mean to say it wasn't enjoyable, I just think you went a bit overboard with the velocity changes on some clips, specifically during the actual frags in first person. If you could find ways to sync up some of the natural elements of the clip (ie. weapon reloading, explosions, etc.) with the music you wouldn't need to force the clip as much to make it sync up. If you add me on steam I'll send you a draft render of the movie I'm working on which might make it easier to explain what I'm saying, it's hard to get across in words.

Didn't like it as much as everyone else seemed to. It seems as though he's adapted your style to some degree pure but the sync looks a bit too forced.

#12 Editing in game signs in TF2 General Discussion

If you delete the original map file and rename the modded map to the original I think the demo is playable on the new map (isn't that how "The Storm" got the in game rain effect?). Anyways I think there are easier ways to do it.

I'm pretty sure there's a way to override that with sv_cheats, hopefully it's not too difficult to get around though.

blueeYou want to open the whatever_dir.vpk files in GCFScape, though I don't know which one has the decals. They're in the common/Team Fortress 2/tf folder.

Also double check you're on the latest version, in case you haven't updated the program in a long time.

Ah I managed to find it under tf2_textures_dir, thank you.

Edit: Thanks for the info as well @above.

#1 Editing in game signs in TF2 General Discussion

Hi. For the soldier movie I'm working on I want to edit a few of the in-game signs like so: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueWA7Vg0pmI&t=7s
I'm aware you have to extract the decal files of the signs using GCFScape but I have no idea where these files are or what they are called. Any help would be appreciated.

#445 Do you like the song above? in Music, Movies, TV

#444 A little bit too low-energy for me, but I understand why you'd like it. I guess I just prefer music to pump me up as opposed to relaxing.

Love the eerie vibes this song gives off, we'll see if the person below agrees.
