also if valve gave any direct indication that us unbanning everything would result in balance changes and a 100k tourney i would be all for it in a second but they've never said that

seanbudProbably an unpopular opinion but here it is: 6's Matchmaking was a massive fucking bone for Valve to throw us. We need to keep trying to play it and give feedback so they can continue to update it. One of the most important feedback issues is weapon balancing. I think one major thing stopping Valve from backing current 6's stuff is the long list of banned weapons. The new global whitelist is a good start, allowing a few of the more toned down unlocks. But we need to just drop that shit entirely. It'll probably be a really frustrating couple of months or whatever, but I'd consider this "growing pains." I think they're using game data to adjust weapons, and not looking at whitelists posted in competitive website forums, and reading through league admins justifications on why certain things are banned. My primary reasoning behind this assumption is the Sydney Sleeper. We've had that shit banned for YEARS and it gets buffed? I think it was so underused that they assumed it was bad, or maybe banning it mid season 5 years ago was a kneejerk reaction and the gun actually isn't THAT incredible, it's just frustrating to play against when a team plays around it well.

Another major issue is class limits. I don't honestly know if the current league limits are a good idea anymore. I personally think current 6's is fun to watch. If we remove class limits and unban all weapons, it probably won't be very fun to watch... At least in the short term. Again, I would hope that there would be a reaction from Valve to add a class limit 2(didn't Blizzard do this for OW?) We may in fact just have to put up with playing "their" format of 6's, until they realize how flawed it is, and adjust it into something more enjoyable.

Maybe I'm completely wrong, who knows what their actual decision making process is. My current thoughts however are that if people want competitive to grow and want developer support, then our community leagues and websites that support competitive shouldn't remain so different from the competitive mode they've given us.

Current timeline of potential ESEA Open player:
Be pubstomper.
Try competitive matchmaking.
Make friends, Make a team.
Look for league to join.
Only leagues are VASTLY different from matchmaking.
Team disbands because 3/6 players are Heavy, Spy, and Engi mains. Unwelcome and innefective in current ESEA format.

Tired ramblings but probably fairly accurate.

TL;DR: If Valve hasn't embraced ESEA 6's and sponsored LANS like iSeries after like 5 years, they won't. Unless the format changes.

when you're not actually playing the game it's really fucking easy to say let's unban everything and ditch class limits but when people still in leagues realize they're going to pushing last against 2 rescue ranger wrangler engies you'll kill the competitive scene before valve does anything. it'd be insane to keep unbanning things based on some assumption we've made that valve might possibly be ready to support with prize money because of reading between the lines and dissecting every sentence for double meaning of a few player's valve visits.

the301stspartanDont u guys get bored of these threads? Some nerd has money left over, flies to valve, they don't give a shit and don't tell him anything new but he feels like the next b4nny competitive spokesperson so he lets us know that valve don't care but with a twist, then there's 10 pages of the same "future of competitive tf2" thread that makes up like half of tf.tv now and in the end, the whole thing gets 0 attention from valve and everyone forgot their own posts by the time the next thread happens and they post the same things there.

SkyeI thought that this -
SkyeI'm trying to give Yimi the most heals in the division. He's currently 7th in IM for heals received.
- was quite an obvious joke, and we don't actually want to put 30% heals on one scout (especially at the expense of the other, poor Blues!). In any case, Vand is not playing. We're pushing Rekuso off the combo and back to roamer, and playing with Deathy demo / Kawa pocket this week. Let's see how that works.

are you saying you accidentally gave a scout 30% heals? in that case your classification as the dead weight is entirely justified

This team is in 8th because everyone else seems REALLY bad and they only seem sorta bad.. Not much else to say here, they dropped 2 rounds to a categorically bottom IM team and could only pull a single one from the jaws of cloudmaker. They were all within 5 kills of eachother in their win and 7 of eachother in their loss, so look for them to continue their streak of mediocrity going forward. I expect them to be dismantled by Waddle R Us this week.

Wrap Up
There are definitely a few matches coming up that will shape these power rankings into a work of pure genius, or at least a little less speculation.

Matches Of The Week

Every Villain Is Lemos vs mae and the meyymeyyshttps://play.esea.net/index.php?s=stats&d=match&id=7820106
This is the match for EVIL to prove that their 3-2 loss to 8K means anythinng. If they put up a good fight here it means that both them and 8K are both very good IM teams. If not, I may have to reconsider 8K’s position on my power rankings. I firmly believe that meyy will win this, the question is how close of a match it will be.

dunheon defenders vs Running From Mustard https://play.esea.net/index.php?s=stats&d=match&id=7820112
The first of two hard matches for 8K this week. Winning this match will give them a much needed morale boost going into their match against going into a possibly even tougher game against. Dd walking away with the W will mean they’ve made use of their first chance to prove themselves against a group of established talented players. I’m not sure who will win this match, but either way it should be a good one.

mae and the meyymeyys vs Running From Mustard https://play.esea.net/index.php?s=stats&d=match&id=7836372
All of these matches hold big significance going forward. If I had to pick a grand finals at the start of the season it would have been these two teams, but with meyy being the only team not to put up a shakey performance so far I expect them to take this in a close-ish game. 8K definitely has all the individual talent they need to win, the question is whether they will even be trying enough to use it.

#35 ESEA-IM S23 Power Rankings in TF2 General Discussion

Badlands week has come and gone, and as we look forward to sunshine I’m confident in taking 8K off of the top spot as the loss of mustardoverload seems to have hit them far harder than expected. Not Around Bears’s continued to show a glimpse of greatness against dunheon defenders but slipped back into mediocrity later in the week, and Paradise Cafe continue to disappoint my already low expectations. Buckle up, we’re in for another week of shitty saam power rankings.

Scout:vari

Roamer:glider
Pocket:froot

Medic:meyy
As of now this team has pulled solidly ahead of the pack in my eyes, if only because they’ve managed to not almost lose to teams they should barely be dropping rounds to. They did drop 2 rounds to milters so who knows, maybe this team is a ticking weaboo time bomb and they’ll lose to EVIL this week, but much more exciting should be their match against Running From Mustard. Ex put up a disappointing 15 frags in a 5-2 against Not Around Bears, a much weaker performance than I would have expected, maybe he got shafted and just had to cap all game or maybe he is slowly detiorating and will be getting one kill a game by the end of the season.

Medic:exile
After #1 ratings get a bit fucky, as just about every team has shown poor performances against teams they should be better than. I’ll put dd_ in 2nd because catface messages me sometimes and because I think them dropping 4 rounds to NAB is better than ex-mustardo’s team nearly losing to EVIL and because it seems like 8K is turning more and more into a pug team anyways. I figure 3 shitty reasons almost add up to a good one so I’m gunna run with that. The biggest red flag I see from their near loss is Kryptonite getting completely manhandled by Morin. I think badlands is usually a map where good, smart pockets should thrive so a weak performance here is a bit worrying.
The pounders: catface, demoted, megaboy
The dead weight: Kryptonite

Scout:Blues
Scout:yimi
Roamer:Rekuso, kawa?
Pocket:deathy? Vand? rekuso?
Demo:deathy? vand?
Medic:Skye
A loss of mustard immediately followed by a two spot drop in power rankings, is it a coincidence? It certainly points to this team becoming more and more of a pug team, as shown by Blues not knowing who their pocket or demo would be when I asked him about his roster just 7 hours before their match. On that note I currently have no idea what this team’s roster will be, as I was told Vand would be their replacement but it was Kawa playing roamer for them in the match. They can probably coast through this season giving Yimi pocket level heals on scout and not trying it all and still finish 3rd but if they don’t want to lose they will need to put some effort into beating teams who actually want to win. Also, ideally Yimi is able to top frag by more than one if he gets the most heals on his team by 1000 and he’s on scout. Kawa’s roamer performance was solid and if she does end up being the starter she will be able to hold her own against any other top roamer, but rekuso’s pocket performance was worrying at best.
The pounders(s): Deathy, Kawa
The dead weight: rekuso, skye (intentional dumb is still dumb)

#4- 130 ms https://play.esea.net/teams/119535
Scout:sandblast
Scout:bunnymonster
Roamer:thaigrr
Pocket:aim

The removal of blew and the addition of moy turns this into quite a solid team. With this current roster they are definitely in a spot to contest any team above them, provided they put in some sort of practice. I’m unsure how likely that is, and it does depend on how often Thaigrr is willing to stay up until 6am. They rolled over their matches this week, dispatching of NAB and Waddle with ease. They still won’t have a chance to really prove themselves in my eyes as they have 2 very easy matches, so they will probably sit right in the 4 spot next week as well provided one of the teams above them doesn’t collapse.
The pounders: easy matches

Scout:RockMonkey
Scout:Link_1012
Roamer:phorofor
Pocket:cloudmaker
Demo:safrix
Medic:tiptoes
I wasn’t sure what team to put here, as the match results start to get really fucky past here. EVIL almost beat 8K, but Waddle thoroughly dismantled EVIL, meanwhile they couldn’t put up a fight against dd_ who NAB was nearly able to topple. I went with Waddle R Us because they have an experienced combo and ex-invite and lan superstar Bradford “phorofor” Homosexual. A strong win against EVIL saw phorfor, cloudmaker, and Link_1012 shitting on everything while RockMonkey and Safrix also existed in the server. They only have one match this week against a crippled moon, which I think they will take with ease if past results are anything to go off.
The Pounders: Phorofor, Cloudmaker, Link_1012
The dead weight nah they all good

#6- Not Around Bears https://play.esea.net/teams/110264
Scout:Zacice
Scout:Ed
Roamer:Mostlybacon
Pocket:Morin
Demo:RDJ
Medic:Differ
NAB gets my 6th place stamp of approval on the back of a great showing against dd_ and an OK one against meyy. Losing 5-1 to 130ms isn’t characteristic of either of those matches so I’m keeping them in 6th because it looks like this could be the real streaky team of the division. When they do well, everyone is doing well, but when they start losing it seems like not everyone can keep their cool, especially Zacice who seems to fall off hard (and I mean HARD. If they can sort out their presumed tilt issues this team could be the dark horse of the division.
The pounders Ed, Morin
The dead weight: tiltted zacice

#7- Every Villain Is Lemons https://play.esea.net/index.php?s=stats&d=match&id=7773599
Scout:Percy
Scout:Troopo
Roamer:Retardo
Pocket:Daffodil
Demo:Campy
Medic:fabulous
It’s pretty weird to put the team who went 3-2 against #3 all the way back in 7th, but while they were able to nearly beat 8K they were much less able to to put up a fight against 130 ms. Did I overrate 8K? Did I underrate 130 ms? Is this team only good when they expect to lose? Only time will tell. Daffodil and Percy both put in huge work against 8k and got completely shut down by 130. Interestingly Troopo put up nearly identical stats in both games (27 frags 165 DPM and 28 frags 158 DPM respectively). Will he do that all season? Is this too many questions? Who knows. Maybe this team just tilts, if the retardo vod proved anything it’s that there is no lack of emotions on the team, they just need to aim their feelings at the enemy and not themselves.
The pounders:Percy, Daffodil
The weak links:Reflecto, Troopo

i don't know much about computers but i wouldn't try updating your bios an hour before a match you have to play. if your games is playable at all on integrated i think you should do that
