blinKI work full time and would be able to pay myself to LAN however i'm not sure if my employer would like me leaving for a 3 day vacation to go compete in a video game tournament in Texas just to earn back what I shelled back to fly there and dorm.
Dude, it's called a hobby. You don't travel to a LAN to make boatloads of money. You do it for the fun.
