_In_SanityCSGO and DotA work because the players stopped screaming about the end of the world every time something changed and realized that things tend to balance themselves out naturally.

people dont "scream" as much in DotA because game imbalance is just another mechanic at this point, but people still complain when heroes get nerfed/buffed
as for cs, people get just as upset over even the tiniest changes and adjustments of values (wider playermodels, slower scoped movement speed, greater moving accuracy, greater movespeed decrease via tagging) as tf2 community did about sticky/heavy nerf

blendtecTf2 was designed for 8v8 actually, but I believe that unlocks were balanced for 12v12 since that proved more popular

yeah thats what i was referring to. wasnt this change because they originally only planned for 16-slot servers, but then ended up with 24-slot?

_In_SanityHonestly, I think 6v6 makes the most sense because it fits better with the size of teams used in other eSports

MOBAs and CS were designed for 5v5. TF2 is designed for 12v12. obviously 6v6 works best for competitive, but 9v9 might make more sense to valve/pubbers, especially with every class available.

#10 Mumble Overlay Not working? in Customization
THEBILLDOZERwhat is the problem with it? ive been having a problem too, where my overlay shows up as white boxes instead of words

that happens to me when i heavily change graphical settings, like by executing an fps config. i'm not sure exactly what changes break the overlay, but when i restart tf2 it works again

We're working on a mandatory update for TF2. It should be ready soon.

is there context here to determine whether "soon" means hours/days vs weeks/months?

GiraffeI really like a lot of what deetr implemented in his addon/plugin and I think it should be added to the site by default. Mostly options such as a remove button so you don't have to uncheck every box, add combat, add all, etc.
Would also really like for players stats and links to show up for captains when picking.

the ui is a little cluttered, especially for a simplification change, but the functionality is great

downpouryeah i remember those notes but that doesnt tell us how far along they are or if they worked on it since

which is why people are saying not to make any assumptions, whether you think it will be sooner or later

#18 Invite is Dead in TF2 General Discussion

can we just continue to call it invite because it sounds a lot better and is a lot more accurate as a description of the division. the only upside to the new name is we can call IM ESEA-I and that saves a letter.

#10 What game would you play comp other than tf2? in Other Games

HLDM is god

Quake is very good too but i never liked the feel of the movement
CS is nice too but mostly because its so big. i prefer to watch it
Fighting games are really cool, but i could never take them as seriously as an fps, since they are inherently very competitive to begin with
Halo has a very underrated competitive scene in the MLG Playlist matchmaking (unfortunately reach killed a lot of it since the added mechanics were very bad for competitive play)

#4 Valve has removed paid mods in Off Topic

every time valve is late with a product/feature they pull the "we want to refine the design to the fullest before shipping"

every time they rush a product/feature and it turns out bad they pull the "we like to put out features like this to test the waters before going all in"

thankfully they usually have the integrity to respect community opinion and their features are usually pretty good, but it really sucks seeing the community suck on their dicks so much for what amounts to good PR
