Snowshoesa3lence_what about the "rate" command, doesn't that one matter too?
the default 80000 is high enough, you shouldn't need to change it
the settings in the OP are the most important/game changing networking commands (not blocked by valve in mm and won't reset after exiting) and will work well for anyone with good low latency connections, which is most people nowadays. 20ms is a little more interpolation time than 15.2ms which is balanced for all the classes (proj/hs) and not too close to the server. too much lerp is bad and so is too little (too little can cause other players to stutter because it's such little interp time to smooth them out). i'd say over 30ms/0.03 interp would be kinda too much, 20ms/0.02 being the minimum.
considering sv_client_min_interp_ratio is a thing and there's probably servers changing it, i'll change the interp ratio to 0, even though my higher interp overrides 1. might as well
if you have shit ping or shit speeds then look elsewhere because high updaterate and low interp has been the standard here for more than half a decade. try 40 updaterate/cmdrate or something. as for servers limiting the updaterate themselves, really there's not much you can do about it unless you wanna sit there tweaking your net settings for every little ping difference or slow server. good servers use 66, and ideally you want to connect to servers close to you. obvious shit
You don't always get to choose to play on a server close to you (for some reason people still use dallas servers). It seems to me that you don't know what you are talking about and you've given next to no reasoning behind why your settings are perfect. If 20ms is so ideal why haven't people been using it already, this game has been out for almost a decade I would be genuinely surprised if it had never been tested. The only other time I've heard of someone using that interp was some other dude who tried to reinvent the wheel like you and made yet another cfg thread, but he didn't give much reasoning or evidence to support his claim that it is better either. I don't think I'm alone in trusting what setsul said over you. Why should people listen to some random dude they've never heard of?

on a more serious note ive been finding it helpful to listen to ambient stuff, post-rock, jazz and instrumental hip hop
in order to find music i usually just look at the top releases on rym within a given genre or use pandora/spotify
post rock: mogwai, this will destroy you, explosions in the sky, godspeed you black emporer, sigur rós, talk talk, el ten eleven
instrumental hip hop: basically everything by madlib (if you're really into him this guide might help), j dilla - donuts, dj shadow - endtroducing, private press, rjd2 - ghostwriter, nujabes
ambient: aphex twin (havent listened to much else tbh)
jazz: louie armstrong, miles davis, coltrane, dave brubeck, thelonious monk, bud powell
avalanches and boc are also super good hard to put them in a genre since their stuff is so distinct
wrechedddddPaging bear for his euro debut
Go Rookie Jake!

EEEVIL bkn???
NightingaleCan someone help me with my specific problem? I'm playing in dx 90, and these are the only things that are in my launch options (to fix the ShaderAPIDx8 spam in console during matchmaking cuz Volvo is shit.)
-force_vendor_id 0x10DE -force_device_id 0x1180
I was told it forces the game to use a certain graphics card or some shit like that. Regardless, mumble overlay becomes white boxes, I'm not able to see any names at all, and it completely blocks the kill feed so I can't keep track of player ads (aside from tapping tab, but if you see a flood of blu or red in kill feed you can mostly guess without doing that)
Is there something in there that is messing it up? I only have a custom hud, and no cfgs at all.
No idea what those commands are or what they do but I've found that after the first time I launch in dx8 or 9, if I keep - dxlevel in the launch options it messes with the mumble overlay like you described. If you can't get it to work I don't see why you wouldn't just go into mumble and disable it-there's no point in an overlay that blocks the kill feed. I've found mumble overlays to be super fucky and half the time even if I do everything the same as usual it doesn't show up, so it might just be that mumble is broken or something lol.
frenzyxMake sure if you win mid you have one scout chase the medic, and one scout cap. If you only have 1 scout have him cap, and your team move up.
Though for the most part this is true, it triggers me when team A wins mid and has 4 up vs the 3 up of team B, but instead of continuing to chase and potentially wipe them, one of the scouts jerks off on middle capping while his team attempts to win the team fight without him. There's nothing wrong with killing them and then capping afterwards, especially given scout is the best class in the game it is pretty useful to chase meds even if it means you have to cap later (or have your roamer switch to pain train and cap it as he respawns).
On the topic of playing pocket on middle, don't think you always need to jump in and initiate something for your team. Especially on maps like gullywash, it's often straight up suicidal to attend. Otherwise to jump into the enemy team because there are usually 6 players grouped up on one side ready to kill whoever feeds into them. That being said, standing on the low ground and spamming/attracting spam to your team can also sometimes be detrimental (for example if your roamer is bombing or something like that). You can bait your roamer a little bit by having him bomb in and you jump in slightly afterwards and shoot the dudes shooting your teammate or who he's shooting. I think there's a few old vods on boinks youtube of technosex talking about double bombs on mid if you're unfamiliar with the concept.
In pugs and stuff when I play pocket, I sometimes find that it's more effective to go gunboats and do a roamer style jump and attempt to make a distraction so your team can push across point and shoot the dudes looking at you. On most mods at least, neither soldier should be taking too many heals (besides arrows and initial buffs) so the role of pocket and roamer tend to blur a little, though at a lower level it may be better for you to try to babysit your medic if you don't 100 percent trust your scouts to hit all their shots/avoid tunnel visioning.
Anyone carpooling from massachusetts? Would like to go but don't have a car :(
