#7 Twitch changes archiving, 14 days for free users in Off Topic
hookyHopefully this is for the better. Maybe I'll actually use my worthless Youtube channel to export Twitch content no one cares about.

If they get bought by Youtube, there's really going to be no point in the VOD system as they could just link Twitch directly to Youtube so Twitch would be able to save VODs on Youtube.

As far as i know Google has already bought Twitch and this is the first measure since the merger. Google is one of the only companies that i trust so hopefully they will do well with Twitch.

Unfortunately there might be a whole lot of content that will be lost. Most matches are on youtube but the entire i49, i46 and other lans in their entirety aren't as well as a whole lot other things.

The change seems reasonable though if it means we get a more quality overall.

#1 Twitch changes archiving, 14 days for free users in Off Topic

Here’s the New Deal

This data, along with feedback we’ve heard from the Twitch community, made it obvious that our VOD system needs to be improved. Today, we start to move in that direction with an update to how we manage your VODs.

This update is the first step in a process to build features that you’ve asked for:

- Better VOD quality of service for our international viewers.
- Ability to watch VODs on mobile and other platforms.
- Secure storage of your past broadcasts (with triple redundancy, we make three copies of your past broadcasts).
- An easier way to export highlights of any length to YouTube.
- A step toward conceptualizing new features like DVR, matching quality options from live to VOD, and better VOD discovery.

Going forward, we’re increasing default rolling storage for past broadcasts from 3 days to a maximum of 14 days, for everyone who has opted in (i.e., enabled Archive Broadcasts). For Turbo subscribers and members of the Twitch Partner Program, that storage is increased to a maximum of 60 days.

Unfortunately, increasing the amount of storage this way comes at considerable cost. In order to enable this, we have to remove the “save forever” option entirely for past broadcasts. Given the viewership patterns on past broadcasts, we believe the tradeoff is better for everyone. To be clear: this is not a move to economize on space. Due to the triple redundancy, it will actually require us to substantially increase our total amount of storage.

Highlights will be saved indefinitely; however, they will now be limited to 2 hours in length. All prior highlights that you’ve made will be saved regardless of length.

As for existing past broadcasts, beginning three weeks from today, we will begin removing them from Twitch servers. If you would like to keep your past broadcasts, we encourage you to begin exporting or making highlights of your best moments so that they’re saved for posterity.

#98 Boeing 777 Shot Down in Ukraine in Off Topic

Latest update:

4 unknown
189 Dutch
29 Malaysian
27 Australian
12 Indonesian
9 UK
4 German
4 Belgian
3 Philipines
1 Canada
1 New Zealanders

Just for comparison sake:

173 Dutch lives were lost yesterday, which is around 1 out of 100,000 of the population.
To put things in perspective, the American lives lost in 9/11 were around 1 out of 100,000 as well.

It's a very sad day for the world, we live in 2014, how can such things still happen.

#14 Rainbow Six Siege - Live gameplay stream on Twitc in Other Games

haha downpour, no, but i find the game pretty interesting if im honest. Apparently it's gonna have single player but not sure how that would play compared to what they are showing, and also they are only showing one map for whatever reason.

#7 Rainbow Six Siege - Live gameplay stream on Twitc in Other Games

I would say it's looking just as good if not better currently, specially considering it's pre-alpha and it's looking this good. As for the shooting, there is plenty of time for that to happen, Ubisoft will go for competitive with this game, so hopefully they will balance it well enough and make the shooting mechanics great.

"As a reminder for those that are asking, this is pre-alpha footage." By Ubisoft, it's looking great!!

#4 Rainbow Six Siege - Live gameplay stream on Twitc in Other Games

lol she/he never said it was scripted. You should pay attention if you are gonna make such claim. In the beginning of the stream, they were doing some introductions to the mechanics of the game so they played two rounds that were scripted, by that i mean that they were doing certain things on purpose to show what you can and cannot do. All the current rounds are played the normal way.

#1 Rainbow Six Siege - Live gameplay stream on Twitc in Other Games

Ubisoft is doing some live gameplay on Twitch of Rainbow Six Siege. I am very interested in this one. Hope it turns out to be the Counter-Strike/SWAT successor it looks like it could be.

Seems like a much much better game than CS:GO
