#1 VTV Cast: ETF2L Division 1 - Furbo Pandas vs Lutus in TF2 General Discussion

Tonight sees 3 games being played in Division 1 with every game able to change the landscape of the league table.

We'll be covering the game between Furbo Pandas and Lutuset tonight.

Several of the teams in Division 1 will feel that they can fight for a 2nd place finish and just thinking about possible outcomes confuses the hell out of me.

Luckily beach talks us through it in the Vanilla article: http://www.vanillatf2.org/2013/03/etf2l-season-14-division-1-week-7-furbo-pandas-vs-lutuset/

Covering the game tonight will be Animal on camera duties, with Byte and Pledge talking us through the game.

As usual, our stream is at http://www.twitch.tv/VanillaTV

djcan i49 donation drive requires a big amount of work, a big amount of responsibility, and anyone put in charge of it needs to be 1) ultra competent 2) trustworthy 3) unburdened since it will be a pretty significant amount of effort. there are not many people like this in the tf2 community.

you can act like it's just a matter of throwing up an indiegogo page and taking $$$ but if it were that simple, you guys wouldn't be asking enigma to do it.

enigma is actively working on it and thinking of ways to approach it. be patient~

Without sounding flippant, I'd be more than happy to do it personaly; but I have zero clue about the NA scene, as I said to enigma; hence my suggestion that someone like enigma take ownership of it.

TapleyShit or get off the pot kids!

This, SO MUCH.

You need to start a donation page asap, or don't do it at all.

HandcuffedWas the $20K last year for just the 12 players or was there also a cost for extv and other casting costs?

Pretty sure it was just the cost of the players. If it was done on a team by team basis, they can work out exact costs involved in flights for each of their players.

Mana; my worry with the teams managing the funds themselves is sheer laziness and/or stability. Can the individual teams have one 'manager' that can be relied upon to stay on top of the funding process? Can they guarantee not to split up before August?

That's why I wanted someone reliable and known in the TF2 scene to be in charge of the donation drive so to speak. If a team does it themselves and gets donations, then has some kind of fallout then the whole thing has been a waste of time and an utter joke.

ManaDunderBroTrellI'd like to see enigma/TF.tv handle the donation drive this time around, via indiegogo or a similar service, much like Beyond The Summit did for their LA Studio.

I did consider suggesting Vanilla help with setting up a donation drive, but this really doesn't make any sense considering it'll be going towards a NA team coming over and enigma/TF.tv have the much closer contacts and knowledge of costs involved and what benefits donation tiers can have.

Echoing Arx's statement, it needs to be discussed, and if agreed, started earlier this time around.
Enigma, because we want one guy to do all the work.
He has people to count on to run this kind of stuff; it's really matter of if something this high of a "risk" would succeed and be worth the "cost".

But if Australia is going...

Wheres the risk?

Beyond The Summit said they went with Indiegogo for the pure reason that they charge less of a fee than Kickstarter, and only if you meet your goal.

Theres zero risk at all, either you make the total or you don't.

SFeuros don't want NA to come over since they got de_stroyed last time
I do agree though it's really not worth the prohibitive cost, hype as it was at i46

Speaking for myself, I'd love to see another NA team come over. They were all great guys to meet for starters, and the games were insanely fun to watch, even the NA vs NA final, as proved by the packed out seating (more viewers than any other LAN final at i46 iirc).

Everyone is saying it won't work and giving reasons why, but as others have said, why not start a donation drive now and see where it goes? Using something like indiegogo or whatever which doesn't take a cut and if it doesn't work out, what's been lost? Nothing. I know quite a few people that would donate to get even one NA team over to i49, myself included.
