#87 Gaming Music in Off Topic

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnANfygizRbJy1-zTaccoWrIAAK5BxITV

I throw together playlists here and there as songs wear out for me, and this is the most recent. Granted I use music for art most of the time, I have also thrown something on for tr_walkway, jump maps and whatnot. I prefer silence for actual games.

#28 can foxes download hacks? in TF2 General Discussion

He's actually a worse Scout than I am. Conversely, he's significantly better at becoming flustered by being god fucking awful and talking out of his ass for twelve minutes about literally nothing.

How in the fuck does he have 791 subscribers.

#52 What do you think of the new layout? in Site Discussion
truktrukOh yeah middle clicking on links sends you to the page in a new tab and on the tab you are currently browsing. Not sure how many people do this, if it's not many I'll be able to get over it.

I dislike this too.

I really like this new design. I was shocked initially, and that's where I think the "too bright" comments stem from, as the previous gray was a bit softer.

An option to "turn off the lights" sounds like a great idea and compromise.

I think it would be cool to have another color scheme with colors from the TF2 palette. I've done something similar before, and Drab, Rustic and Conagher were pretty good for the bigger parts of the site. Debonair and Overalls for accents perhaps. Just an idea.

#18 Streaming Charity Event idea in TF2 General Discussion
seanbudSome good ideas so far. I would definitely make it a scheduled event thing and try to do some PR on it beforehand. I was thinking a lot of the actual gameplay could be on the teamfortress.tv pub server. Scrims towards the end might be a good idea. Could have a caster stop by and chill cast it and read "challenges" from donators to the players.

Still looking for more ideas content wise. I have only approached a couple other streamers about this so I'm not sure who all would be interested.

Would doing a map of MvM be a good way to create some sort of challenges?
Surfing?

Interested in the highest donator gets a mentor session idea but that would require finding mentors willing to follow through.

How best could we use tf2 items?

Thanks for the ideas!

I think using the TF.tv server is an awesome idea. A caster to interact with the viewers more would be fantastic too. Perhaps they or a second caster could relay questions to the players, making everybody feel more involved.

I personally wouldn't be interested in watching surfing/jump maps or MvM. I think the former wouldn't go over as well with not-so-competitive players, and we want to reach out to as much of the community as we can to bring everybody together for fun/common cause. The latter may interest people on both ends of the spectrum though.

I like Marxist's and Vanilla's ideas on prop hunt with viewers and cash-entry raffles.

Another option with higher-ticket items is to sell them for cash to put back into the charity.

From the Reddit front page for non-Redditors, might be useful for choosing a charity.

#2 Streaming Charity Event idea in TF2 General Discussion

Child's Play seems to be the go-to charity for gamers, nothing else off the top of my head.

Tracking specific things in-game such as airshots seems messy to me, but of course I have never hosted something like this or anything, so I'm not speaking from experience. But I do think maybe a little round robin tourney of sorts may be a good idea, and people could pledge donations for wins or for one team to win, whatever.

I'm sure you've thought of this already, but looking at past/current other charity gaming events would be a good way to gather ideas.

I can't really contribute much, except maybe art for ads/Twitch banners or something. (Fiddled with Boink's Twitch for example. Aaaand a larger version of the banner.)

#16 The Elder Scrolls Online beta signups open in Off Topic
KhakiTino_Imo this will kill the game... As much fun as MMOS can be the fun in TES or Fallout is finding all the random and cool stuff buy your self, making it a MMO would just wreck the feel of the game. If they did like a 4 player co-op it would be better but im not so sure about having 15,000 or 30,000 people...do you know how ridiculously big bethesda game worlds are

if anything they'd be better with more stuff in them

I agree with Khaki. More shit/features in the typically large TES worlds would be fantastic--and, of course, TES:O is going to be even bigger.

I prefer playing games like Fallout with a backseat gamer or as a backseat gamer. I honestly cannot see how companionship would ruin the experience at all.

#29 Windwaker HD remake for Wii U in TF2 General Discussion
wareyafake HDR through bloom: check
"realistic" shading that is actually disgusting and nothing like real life AO: check
higher resolution textures and models: haha nope

I didn't see an official spokesperson actually call the game HD, correct me if this is not the case.

I'm not sure what sort of super-duper textures you're expecting out of flat coloring (it's the shadows that add depth and interest).

#27 Windwaker HD remake for Wii U in TF2 General Discussion
FFGsorry but it just sounds like Nintendo is running out of ideas and they just want a quick cash-in

"I think <game company> is just running out of ideas."

Aren't you clever and thoughtful.

I'm pretty sure a complete aesthetic overhaul is anything but a "quick" cash-in. With Pokemon remakes, it's less debatable. But it's pretty damn annoying and lazy to shout "LACK OF IDEAS" at every remake.

On the graphics looking "off," I actually prefer the new shading. But I have a soft spot for, well, soft aesthetics.
