#1 Spiking Ping in Q/A Help

My dorm has 6k kids watching Netflix every night so between 5pm-midnight my ping is constant spiking between 50-150ms with 0-20 loss. This leads to rather choppy movement, sounds, warping (especially when other players have higher ping. I was wondering if there would be any way to adjust my interp or net settings to compensate for the ping rollercoaster. If so could I make an exec to toggle when need be and would I have to reconnect to do so?

Here are my current net settings from Chris' Max:
cl_cmdrate 67
cl_interp .033
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_pred_optimize 2
cl_smooth 0
cl_smoothtime 0.01
cl_updaterate 67
rate 60000
(These are the "Good" settings which I use because a I'm used to them and at other times my ping is stable)

#34 running on little sleep in Off Topic

1) The hour you best internalize information is the hour before you go to sleep
2) To internalize that info you need to get REM sleep (this several hours in the dark no noise etc)
3) Stimulant such as common study aids (caffeine, Adderall, tea, nicotine, meth) have long halflifes (6+ hours) thus mess with REM sleep
4) Without sleep you are prone to anxiety, depression, paranoia

tl;dr sleep is really important and studying wont do as much if you don't get it. Stay away from Redbull after dinner and get your ZZZs

#7 f.lux in TF2 in Q/A Help

Thanks for the input guess Ill play in windowed. Yes i would say its worth it. Removes a lot of strain from your eyes and is unnoticeable after a short period. You still have to disable it for color sensitive stuff like art or w/e but otherwise its great.

#1 f.lux in TF2 in Q/A Help

Seasonal allergies already murder my eyes enough I was wondering if f.lux worked for anyone in TF2 (or any other source game for that matter). If not I was wondering if there would be an ingame way to lower my color temperature as to spare my retinas.

#52 Rap you like in Off Topic

Firstly I would say not to confuse hip hop and rap they are kinda overlapping but different genres
Lotsa alt hiphop:
Eyedea and Abilities, Atmosphere, Cage, Cannibal Ox, El-P, Del the Funky Homosapien, Aesop Rock, Das Racist
As well as older artists:
Gang Starr, Nas, Mos Def, Biggie, Pac, Wu-Tang

I'd say my 5 must listen to albums are the following in no particular order:
-Illmatic by Nas
Really defined the genre for the early 90s and showed what depths lyricism could be taken to

-First Born by Eyedea & Abilities
a personal favorite an existential philosophical album that really blew my mind at the time

-Moment of Truth by Gang Starr
I love this album because is in rejection of the more materialistic sloppy Top 40 hiphop

-The Marshall Mathers LP
Both commercial and edgy, full of emotion

-When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold by Atmospere
An album of stories and twists that I return to every now and then. Makes me smile and think about my life

Good luck and happy listening

#801 Do you like the song above? in Music, Movies, TV

Ohfuckyes. XXX was way better than Old IMO. More real lyrics and less pop beats. Danny Brown is pretty real all around though.

#138 The Mouse/Mousepad Thread (last updated Sep. 9, 2013) in Hardware

WARNING: Regarding the g700s
I bought this mouse about 2 months ago after my g400s died (best mouse ever). 2 problems with it:
1) There seems to be an inconsistent amount of input lag. I was told it would be 1ms even though it was wireless. However when both usb tethered and wireless it seemed to have an inconsistent amount of input lag.
2) More importantly is the sensor placement. The sensor itself seems fine however the g700s' wonderful designer decided it should be unlike 90% of all other mice on the market and decided not to placed the sensor under your palm but rather halfway up your fingers. This is not conducive to consistency and was the main reason I decided to replace it. With the claw grip you might be prone to thinking it is in the same spot as the ergonomically similar g400s however this is not the case.

#15 Formers smokers in Off Topic

I've found that the best way is to break down habits you associate with smoking or modify them with other things that reward you positively. I used to smoke every morning with my coffee and when I was quitting I couldn't stand the sight of it. I switched to Redbull and light cardio. Exercise helps a surprising amount and the endorphins are great. Word of warning: DONT USE E-CIGS while they are "healthier" they actually have a higher percentage nicotine than your average cigarette and deepen your addiction. Plus they are just a rationalization. I found that I i stayed busy and distracted it was easier. The worst part was going to sleep at night and getting up in the morning. Weed really helped more than anything but thats just personal preference.
edit:this thread makes me want a cigarette goddamnit

#6 Brofessional lft in Recruitment (looking for team)

Really cool guy. A good mixture of both DM and game sense that would work well on demo. but...

here is the thing with brofessional, hes hit a couple of airpipes in his day, hes got traps down to a science and he has never let me down personally or professionally. he is playing for my ugc 6s team right now, and i am confident in his abilities. the only problem i forsee is that if you take brofessional onto your roster, you HAVE TO TAKE ME TOO. we are a package deal and we will NOT compromise on this. i am a low iron pyro main with enough gamesense to lead your little open team to at LEAST a season of 3-4 FFWs. I don't like little bitches and i am a tough player to get along with but GOD DAMN can i play. i average like 10 air-reflects med picks a game nbd.(its a big deal) plus i can to several trickreflects: the stairreflect, the turn relfect (also known as the matador), and the infamous cornerreflect. if you think a group of players isn't really a team unless there is mad drama, i am the furry for you. lastly, i expect my fee to be paid for in full by the teams funding. i will reimburse the team over time with payments in the form of tf2 related literotica(i am an amateur fanfic author)

#61 Games for kids in Other Games

PuttPutt, Pajama Sam, Freddie Fish and lots of the old point-n-clicks. Or (this would be my pick) buy them 20lbs of Legos off craiglist for $15. Legos ruled my childhood

Took a lengthy dump on my LFT thread when I had no idea who he was. Has lots of hours so he probably wont be bad at the game. 1/10
