Today is my friend's birthday. He calls me up to tell me he's coming to pick me up about 10 minutes before he arrives. With caring and overprotective parents, I try to be considerate to them and notify them what is going on. Unfortunately my dad is on his commute home and is unable to answer his phone. I try to tell my friend that I'm not going to leave without asking my parents because they go apeshit, and I've told him and my friends countless times to notify me much further in advance. As he arrives, I tell him i'm not going because i havent told my dad yet, but instead of being understanding he calls me ungrateful because he was going to give me a ride. What he didnt think of was that i could have met up with him at another time and hitched a ride with someone else. So, trying to be considerate to my parents, i get called ungrateful and a shitty friend.
