Looks like you just have the mainmenuoverride.res from eve hud. Try grabbing the mainmenuoverride.res from the flathud file you downloaded and replace the one in your ui folder.

4:3 has just as bad positioning. It was probably only made for 16:9
Now I have to play the game to play MM with friends like twice a year.

I think it's either "fgcolor" or "fgcolor_override" try them both and see what happens.
