DougJasI can assure you, as a Australian, do not under-estimate the retardness of Australian routing. Sometimes my packets to Melbourne (1 state away) will get routed through to Adelaide (imagine you want to play on a NY server and you're in NJ but your packet does a round trip to Houston first).Here in South America, when I want to play in a Chilean or Argentinean server, my ISP sends my packets to USA and then to Chile/Argentina, so I get 300+ ping, meanwhile Argentineans and Chileans can play in Brazilian servers with 50~80 ping.
International routing is an even bigger joke.
Yup, we have dumb routing things. Brazil servers ftw.

Most of the people I know over here (here being Argentina) have a really negative vision on the USA. Mainly because of the issues our country has had with the IMF. They also think "everyone is dumb and too proud of their country thinking they are superior than anything and everyone in the world. We must follow them as their puppets because they like to rule it." (between quotes because that's what someone said to me, so you get the idea).
I do not agree with that though. It's all cool.
