Ain't gonna be fun, he'll be out at least 6 months.
Ooh, interesting word, kainotophobia. That's worth an up frag in my book.
But I wouldn't use it to describe this case, I would describe it as more of a fear of losing control because of a unplanned variable appearing rather than the change itself.
There's two ways of looking at it, one is looking at change as something dangerous, or as an opportunity to make advances. Taking into consideration that change happens regardless of what anyone does, it makes more sense to take the opportunities as they come rather than stand in the way of the boulder rolling down the hill.
As the saying goes, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
wareyabanning them because they have the potential to entirely break the way that tf2 is played and it's not worth the risk of allowing them without knowing what they would do
see: quick fix
You just basically made the argument for me, without the risk, there can't be a reward.
Okay, sure there would be a couple weeks of mildly weird results. But sooner or later, teams will adapt and devise method of neutralizing the changes, the balance will be restored. And the best will always rise to the occasion.
The more they keep changing stuff, the more I keep thinking they're testing us. We've hardly given buffed weapons a chance before banning them because they're different, and to be frank, it's annoying.
Either give them a chance or just go pure vanilla. Because that's where this will end up eventually.
They moved over to a new IRC network if I recall.
... Why is this thread still alive...?
Well, if they've played any sort of competitive before, they can play 2nd scout in Newbie Mixes.
Found this today, it's an Open-Source conversion of the old Command & Conquer game when Westwood was just Westwood.
They include "mods" for Tiberian Sun Dawn, Red Alert 1 and Dune 2000. Plus a bunch of modern improvements to make it easier to get unit info and whatnot. It's a fun venture into a piece of RTS history (since the original games don't work on Vista/7/8).
EDIT: I got my Dawns and my Suns mixed up...
There's no giant nuclear crater anywhere.
I am disappoint.
I have faith in our little ragtag bunch.
So, how difficult would it be for teams to work a ladder into their normal schedule? Say you have a ESEA match between iT and WELOVEANIME, for instance. They're both on the MLG ladder and the ladder runs the same rules as CEVO (wishing and hoping), could they set it up so the ESEA match counts also as a ladder match?
Dude, Dell. It's nearly 2014, we're over Ronnie boy...
