#6 The NA TFTV Coverage Feedback Thread for RGL S3 in TF2 General Discussion

There were an impressive number of talented casters on your roster last season, and I was especially happy with all the Invite players who participated. Marmaloo and Sandblast in particular were perfect together, and you've gotta hand it to b4nny for his cast with extine. His knowledge and love of the game were just irrepressible. I'd love to see more of that.

The couple brief interactions I had with yomps were enough to convince me that he was one of the warmest and most genuine people I'd met in this community. What a waste.

Massive hype for the Marm Yomps combo.
Also cool to see yet another seasoned invite player casting.

Bro I fucking love science bro, did you know they SCIENTIFICALLY PROVED with DATA and STATISTICS that racism DOESN'T EXIST?!

How much do you actually know about race issues?

You can huff and puff and shittalk for upvotes, but you have nothing substantive to say against my argument because you simply don't know what you're talking about.

When you regurgitate some bit of hearsay like "There is an epidemic of black civilians being killed by racist police" you're making an objective, falsifiable claim about reality, just like I am, only you're wrong, and this belief of yours is based on some tweet you saw.

#22 Excitement in Off Topic

American police are violent, and perhaps reform is necessary, but there is zero evidence that police are systematically discriminating against black people when they kill civilians, armed or otherwise. " When adjusting for crime, we find no systematic evidence of anti-Black disparities in fatal shootings, fatal shootings of unarmed citizens, or fatal shootings involving misidentification ofharmless objects. Multiverse analyses showed only one significant anti-Black disparity of 144 possible tests. Exposure to police, given crime rate differences likely accounts for the higher per capita rate of fatal police shootings for Blacks"

Whites are about 75% of police officers, and blacks are about 30% of people killed by police. Because a)non-white areas have more non-white cops, and b) whites are not more likely to shoot black people, about 17% of all police killings are white cop on black civilian. You exclusively hear about cases of black people being killed by police because the media selects these cases for you. This is corporate media telling you this. You are not fighting the system by participating in BLM, because the systemic racism narrative is an establishment narrative. Noone cares about Justine Damond because the media didn't tell anyone to care, yet even people born after the LA riots know who Rodney King is.

#1 RGL S3 W1B: MyAnimeList vs. The Microwave in Events

Between these two and the return of Marxist and Row, this is the best lineup of casters of any season I can remember. Credit where it's due: this is the first time I've consistently chosen the casts over player POV's

Blacks very commonly assume when white people do something mean to them they're doing it because they're racist. Sometimes of course this is true, but if there is statistical evidence contradicting the idea that there is a general trend of such behavior, it is an absurd, narcissistic assumption to make. My German grandmother's been ticketed for driving too slow, by a black cop no less. Was he being racist? This metanalysis finds that when making value judgements, blacks exhibit a statistically significant bias in favor of their own race. White people on the other hand, exhibit a very small bias in favor of... blacks. It would make sense for blacks to think whites were racist towards them. After all, whites have a lower opinion of them than they themselves have. The problem is that the whites are, at worst, judging you fairly, and to an extent giving you the benefit of the doubt.

You might say this just reflects the general population, and blacks in the justice system might still be discriminated against. Well, Mitchell 2005 finds the same pattern of black in-group bias and White biaslessness in jury verdicts.

Given the sheer mass of "lived experience" i'm arguing against here, no doubt a lot of the resistance to these statistics boils down to "can every black person just be wrong?" Well, here's an interesting experiment on perception of discrimination. Subjects were given prosthetic deformities, then put into conversation with another person. Afterwards, the experimenters asked if they felt had been discriminated against on the grounds of their appearance. The subjects said yes, and were then shown that before they met with their conversation partner, the prosthesis had been removed. Clearly, they were engaging in narcissistic armchair psychology. Given the fact that some whites actually are racist and do do racist things regardless of any *net* discrimination, such a belief is harder to shake outside of a controlled environment.

MenachemWhat about discrimination on drug crime

A black drug user and white one are not interchangeable for several reasons. First, any study on self-reported drug will underreport black use because blacks often underreport their use. This is also true of self-reported criminal history. Source for image is the Handbook of Criminal Correlates by Wright, Beaver et. all. With that in mind, blacks are more likely to engage in drug-related behaviors that put them at risk of of being arrested. To buy outdoors, from a stranger, or to buy and use in an unknown area. They use more frequently, they use more dangerous drugs, and they use in high-crime areas.

I believe this explains the entire or at least the vast majority of difference between white and black drug offenders. Regardless, the point is that comparing the two is inappropriate, and inequality of outcome is not proof of discrimination.

You cannot be basing your argument on a twitter video. I can pull up a video of black looters beating up a couple with a 2x4, and I could claim this reflects a "systemic" trend of violence by blacks against whites, but of course that video is just anecdotal evidence. It means nothing against the grand narrative you continue to hint at but cannot substantiate.
https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/husband-and-wife-beaten-by-thugs-armed-with-2x4s-after-asking-them-to-stop-vandalizing/

I've already made the case that individual officers are not on net racially biased. A plausible rebuttal might be that it's an intrinsic flaw of the system itself driving inequality of outcome for blacks. Well, Beaver et all 2012 finds that with proper controls, the apparent disparate sentencing blacks receive goes away. A given black and white defendant might be accused of the same crime, but the circumstances of the case will be different in predictable ways, one of which being say, a higher recidivism rate among blacks; repeat offenders receive longer sentences.

But now I'm responding to arguments you haven't made and have no intention of making.
