By looking at the number of paid csgo open teams, (yesterday there were ~285) you see that the number of teams paid is less than half that of the previous season. I would assume that is the reason it was extended.

Steelseries Rival 700

namassinI used to own a steelseries rival, and the side grip wore away after about 2-3 months of use, and you could stick your finger inside the mouse. This newer version appears to have the same grip, I would not recommend it. Go with zowie.
The more recent batches of the rival 300 have eliminated this problem for me
