#13 Is this build good? in Hardware

you might want to have a quick look at nvidia cards again. I'v seen the 680 & 670 drop €200 and €150 respectively some places in the last few days with the 770 coming out.

also make sure you get a good cloth mousepad to go with your deathadder. It's much lighter than you'ld expect and you'll want the extra friction.
also If you have big hands, the side buttons and (particularly) the scroll wheel are quite a bit further towards the rear of the mouse than I'd like. so if you have long fingers you may find this offputting too.

#18 Highlander pick/ban system in TF2 General Discussion
ToastyTHTFlakxToastyTHTRawrSpoonThere needs to be always-allowed unlocks too. The thought of a pyro without degreaser is awful to think about, and the ability to go kritz is absolutely fantastic and adds depth to the game.Yeah, I agree. I think etf2l's legal weapons sound fine for a base.
pretty sure the degreaser still isn't allowed, unless it was added this season?
Wasn't referring to degreaser cutie. It's OP as hell, almost as bad as pre-split equalizer.

I don't think that's fair, sure it's a much better option than any of the other pyro unlocks, but pyro is so underpowerd in most situations to begin with because of his lack of movement options and low dps.

Buttnoseyour choices of what items should be in the match

I don't understand why you would need to specificly pick items though, surely it's just everything that is Not banned.

#2 Highlander pick/ban system in TF2 General Discussion

I think the number of weapons banned per game should be at least 10.
as there are 5-6 completly broken weapons that will have to be banned every single round, and if we make the banlist too small there wont be particularly interesting feedback to give to valve. (as it would be the same every game.)

also the medic, sniper & spy item set bonus' should be disallowed.

also can you explain what you mean by picks?

#180 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion
BLoodSireThe best way to help us isnt with lobby systems it's with coverage. Spec options like dota has...that sort of thing.

I disagree. while tf2's spec options are far from perfect there not bad. more important is making it easier for new players to try and get started in competitive. If they like what they see then they'll go on to play in one of the existing leagues, and more players & the more people that know about it means more viewers, means more money, means more sponsorships etc.

currently a new player might see a cast, think "oh that's kinda cool" wonder how to join in, see that you have to register on various sites, seek out teams, download software etc and simply lose interest.
this way they can simply open the game and click "join lobby."

#174 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion

#161 I think If we agreed on a specific number of weapons to ban each game (now.)

each pug group could then make a spreadsheet listing the game #, date, time and the weapon list banned for that game.

edit: and maybe we should make the stock weapons + kritzkriege & ubersaw unbanable.

RoycelamefxLets start with a list of absolute must bans. You can't allow the pee sniper or YER through because of how devastating they are in the sets. A spy that can't be heard unclocking and a sniper that can't be headshot? Massively lowers the skill ceiling while still making them almost as threatening as a player really talented at either class. Honestly, no other items in the game have anywhere near the impact of those two sets.

why not just ban the associated cosmetic items?

Salamancer#23 Part of the reason for the system is that it gives Valve much better feedback on which weapons need rebalancing. Currently their only sources are SPUF, Reddit and other forum threads. Those are not useful data points. Having a pick/ban item system allows them to focus on balance early on.

this won't nessacirily give them the best feedback for the game as a whole, only for that specific format. for example the gunslinger is beyond broken in pubs, but not a big deal for competitive formats.

lamefxLets start with a list of absolute must bans.

Pomson
Enforcer
beggars bazooka
vita saw
phlog
atomiser

+ any weapons with associated glitches/exploits.

#19 Building a PC in Hardware
atmoCheck the PC Building forum on boards.ie (if you're actually in Ireland). Most people there buy from http://harwareversand.de because of the flat-rate shipping.

you misspelt the url there, thanks for the site though. I normally have to get stuff deliverd to my grandmother up north to avoid crazy shipping costs.

#17 FPS HELP, WILL PAY KEYS IF SOLVED in TF2 General Discussion
CasualGood idea, I will try this this weekend, maybe it can be something I get in a routine of doing once a month.

once a months seems a little unnecessary, but servicing at regular intervals is a good idea.

you should also pick up a syringe of thermal compound and replace the thermal paste between your heatsink and chipset. this will make a massive difference.

#17 GeForce GTX 700 series news in Hardware
Jstn7477People looking forward to the GeForce GTX 770 (essentially a refined GTX 680) might be in luck as far as pricing goes. Rumor has it that the reference GTX 770 will feature the cooler used on TITAN and the 780, and will supposedly cost around $400. The GTX 680 debuted at $500, so GTX 680s could possibly be lowered to the sub-$300 range when they become "obsolete" after the GTX 770's release.

I'm curious what AMD has planned for their next-gen cards. So far, things have been quiet news-wise.

best news I'v seen today. really hope this is the case.

#22 How well do AMD cpus do in tf2? in Hardware

no, what I normally do is buy stuff off ebay/amazon/uk websites and deliver them to my grandmothers house up north.

which probably isn't much help to you unless you have friends/relatives that you visit often in northern Ireland.

edit:
(depending on what you were looking for you might find parts on ie.farnell.com but It's mainly for electronics components.)
