#39 ESA opens in TF2 General Discussion
SideshowSweet stuff with the opening tournament, and nice partnership.

I can't believe my eyes.

Who hijacked Sideshow's account?

#36 ESA opens in TF2 General Discussion

Quake is a relatively small community, which is made even smaller by the various sorts of game play... The admin for QL is obtaining feedback and running votes for particular modes, that is why its been disabled!

nerkulAre the proposed Sunday tournaments free-to-play and therefore eligible for under 18s?

Yeah, that's correct. You only need to be 18 to Pay to Play

HallowIt seems I need to be over 18. The ESA need to confirm you are over 18 and eligible to play for cash prizes. Please enter the correct details as we may request a piece of government-issued ID as proof.Doesn't that alienate quite a large portion of the community?

To be honest, this is a legal requirement and standard practice across all tournament platforms, we've just been up front and honest about it.

#37 Origins of Your Name/Alias in Off Topic

My alias is short for Digital Bullet.... People in the local internet cafe, where I started playing called me Didge for short and that's been my alias ever since.

#25 IGL? in TF2 General Discussion

I’m not entirely sure if the person you spoke to was reserved in the information he was prepared to disclose or you have misinterpreted what he has said. I’m not sure; it could be a mixture of both.

ESA has been designed to include, rather than exclude members of the community. We operate separate levels of skill tournaments, which are either free to enter or pay to play. In addition, teams can challenge one another for cash or points, which is entirely dependent on the users preference.

I think for you to say I don’t have ‘basic understanding’ is unwarranted and harsh, for the select few who know about our model, the feedback has been positive both in terms of the design of the site and how we operate… which is different to how others operate, that’s for sure.

Cro0Ked_what happened to that other one, esa? anything ever come of that?SideshowESA is very delayed but still progressing. However I am not convinced at all that the people running it know how to run a pay to play league, and others share my concern.

Never even heard of IGL before this...

First of all, I apologise to IGL jumping in on their post, however, ESA is launching very soon, we’re almost ‘complete’ and will be providing a full beta product for people to play with. As for Sideshow, I am not sure how you have come to the conclusion about us? In Europe we have administrators you know and service your needs at present. ESA is not intended to be a Pay to Play website, we offer that service as a supplement to our regular operations. If you would like to share your concerns, I will happily convince you otherwise. Thanks

#64 A new tournament website in TF2 General Discussion

Hi guys,

I know the site has taken a lot longer than anybody was expecting, even us... but you will be pleasantly surprised how much of a full beta product we have produced. It was decided that we would take it even further and automate some other things which would have otherwise been manual.

As for preregistering accounts, we removed that function because we need people to agree to the legal stuff.

We are very very close now though!

Nahanni, the ESA is a tournament provider. We're not a DIY bracket generating website, we are a managed organiser, providing structured events.

We do provide services for third party organisers to use our system, we welcome that. My system may work for you, if you wanted to start operating cash paid tournaments with cash prizes also, lan organisers can advertise their events on my site - which uses a "clan pay" sort of system, teams can clear their balance gradually by competing in paid matches.

I don't know of AG unfortunately, so I cannot compare us to them. If you're on about AG.RU - I am confident my service will sell its self.

Theres a good reason for the content really.... We need to keep some of our stuff back as we're aware if two others doing something similar (but not as good) - In regards to the facebook count, it is a lot lower than we expected but we're getting traffic and registrations but I would like more people to follow. In regards to the ESPN logo, I have to admit, it does look similar - even my wife had something to say lol... it wasn't intended or even referenced, it just seemed like a logical advance the most preferred mockup!

You can find us in #ESA (quakenet) - we welcome people to come and help! It's a big project so there are plenty of opportunities!

No, there is no intention of a similar name. The ESEA provides their service and we provide ours. In all reality, there aren't too many names that does the job I want it do.

I don't believe it will hurt our image, you can argue my abbreviation is similar to ESL. It's nothing intended. Obviously ESA/ESEA/ESL all start with Electronic Sports... :)
