I dunno why it gives you that "options - warning" when you try to change advanced video settings it happens to me a lot too even when i'm at the main menu though to fix that if it's giving you any problems try putting "-dxlevel 98" in launch options, change the graphical settings to however you like and when it tells you that it has to disconnect you from current game press OK however doing this also changes your dxlevel to 7 or 8 but you when you close the game and reopen it your game will run in dx98 and you will have saved the graphical settings you last chose.

Well after searching the words Paki and Jap on the net i only know found out that those are considered racial slurs, i always thought it was just people calling others their nationality in abbreviations, my mistake.
