Doesn't confirmed mean that the company officially announces it or says yes?

Also, it's really no surprise they are working on it. I'd wager they've had a small team working on it while other big projects like Dota2 and TF2 were getting worked on. Also, seems like EP3 is also going to come out first, and then valve time wait for HL3.

yeah from what i've read only L4D3 is sort of close to being confirmed, hl3 was just mentioned or something like that.

I imagine HL3 is going to be on Source 2 at this point. They probably have a majority of their people working on that.
