Are you using an hdmi cable directly to the monitor? I mean you could try have a dvi adapt to a hdmi so that everything is dvi. But other than that I'm thinking it's a problem with drivers/software.

Ok I'm necroing this thread because it's really weird now.
Forget 5 monitors for the moment, right now I am just trying to get my main 3 to work.
They don't.
I have my MDP adapters now and I can run 2 monitors via MDP. Still, only 2 monitors will work at the same time, no matter what I do. I am starting to believe that this is a windows issue.

I simply cannot get the third one to work. No matter what I do, windows and CCC say it is "disabled" and I cannot enable it. The monitor itself is not the problem, I can disconnect one of the other two and it will work.
This is inacceptable, please help me if you have any idea what is going on.

Ok. So after further research I found out that I DO need active adapters even if I don't want to connect to any dual link DVI.
So now I bought two additional active MDP->DVI adapters.

This graphics card would probably help VisionTek 900322 Radeon HD 5870 2GB- it has 6 mini display ports.

I found it on this forum. Not sure how to use the mini display ports but I am sure you can look that up.

Edit: Make sure to purchase mini display port to dvi adapter cables.

He owns an HD 7990.

The active adapters might solve your issue (we'll see). Eyefinity can be weird due to how the 6 TDMS links are split up over the display outputs. The single dual link DVI port uses two links while everything else uses one. You pretty much have to use at least one DP connection which is of course where your adapters come into play.

I believe it's a problem with the DPs in that they cannot supply a third (or fourth or fifth) monitor without active adapters. With the passive ones I have right now I can supply 2 monitors as usual.
On a sidenote, my 120hz monitor arrived today and I plugged it in with the dual-link DVI included and it works fine. This shit's amazing. I haven't even played tf2 with it yet but moving the mouse around alone that smoothly is awesome. Tomorrow I will post my results with the adapters.

Doesn't make sense.

I can run 3 monitors no issues with passive adapters. All the active one does is give me 120+ hz.
