soft for lower sens hard for higher sens

i prefer soft, when i made the transition from hard to soft on the same mouse (zowie AM) it literally ate my mouse feet off
but I've been sticking with soft and its always been good to me. other than it tearing pieces of the mouse feet that one time.
i use pure trak talent

Soft definitely, also what I've found is hard mouse pads wear away after a while and they become unusable

Soft pads can create acceleration issues with many sensors.

Check the "choosing a mousepad" section.

if you mean plastic mouse pad when you say hard, i used to use those a long time ago, and they wear your mouse down, even if you use mouse feet, theyre garbage, they themselves also wear down, so youll have a smoother worn spot in the middle

cloth mouse pads ftw
